🚨 Seeking a technical co-founder - Join the vision to transform everyday life.

Quick update on my search for a technical co-founder:

Instead of rushing to build an MVP and bring on a co-founder right away, I’ve decided to pause development and focus on real-world validation first, on my own for now.

I’m currently running this as a concierge MVP. This lets me stay very close to the actual problems, friction points, and user needs before making any big commitments.

I don’t want to bring someone on and make promises until I’m truly confident in the direction and the problem is well-validated.

When and if it’s time to start building the actual product, I’ll be very intentional about who I partner with.

So for now, I’m hitting pause on actively looking for a co-founder. I’ll post again when things are clearer and I’m ready to move forward.

Thanks to everyone who reached out. I really appreciate the interest and conversations so far.

"Share, Connect, Belong"

🔹Intro

Hi I’m David, founder of Owesome. And I’m seeking a co-founder who can lead the technical side, while I focus on Product, Design, Fund raising, Marketing, and Operations.

🔹About Owesome

Owesome is a peer to peer rental platform where neighbors not only share items instead of buying new, but also build stronger bonds and community.

Many people spend a lot of money to buy items like baby gear, golf clubs, or camping equipment that they only use a few times.
These purchases are expensive, take up space, and often end up collecting dust.

We connect neighbors to rent items from one another, saving money, reducing waste, and turning unused items into shared resources.
On Owesome, people don’t rent only because they need something. They rent because they want to help a neighbor, build trust, and feel part of a real local community.

🔹Vision

My vision is to make renting a natural, everyday act of sharing in cities around the world, and to connect neighbors everywhere through trust, access, and community.

🔹About me

I have no formal background, no prior startup experience, and no technical expertise.
What I do have is persistence, devotion, and a strong passion to live and build something ethically.
I constantly think, reflect, and question myself. And once I commit, I do not quit.
I’m driven by big ideas and the belief that meaningful products come from sincerity, discipline, and long-term commitment rather than credentials.

🔹What am I looking for in a co-founder

  1. Character & Values
    • Family-oriented, grounded
    • Lives with clear personal values
    • Not driven by hedonism or short-term pleasure

  2. Integrity & Morality
    • Honest, even when it’s uncomfortable
    • Tries to live as a righteous person
    • Someone who forms their values through consistent ethical reasoning, not through coreless agenda or ideology that lack a fundamental core value.

  3. Mindset
    • Doesn’t give up easily
    • Willing to sacrifice almost everything for your goal
    • Actively works on self-improvement (e.g., exercise, gym, daily routines)

Your character matters more to me than your resume, skills, or past experience.
Just as important is whether you have a genuine, personal reason to build this.
I don’t expect you to want this more than I do, but I do expect this not to be a convenience, a resume move, or a financial bet. It should be something you feel internally driven to commit to.

🔹Equity expectations

I’m willing to work with someone whom I’d gladly give half the equity, vesting over 4 years with a 1-year cliff.

🔹Conclusion

I’ve put my entire life into this, and there’s nothing else I’m pursuing. Because of that, I want to work with people who are genuinely sincere, and ready to devote themselves wholeheartedly to their passion.
If this resonates, let’s connect and discuss whether our values align. Feel free to reach out to me!

P.S. I’m open to connecting with people who are genuinely passionate about this idea and interested in working alongside me to build it.

🔹What's next?

If we choose to move forward together, we will begin with a two-week collaboration period focused on evaluating problem-solving mindset and working dynamics.
Following this, we will make a final decision on equity and move into formal onboarding.

Finding the right co-founder often comes down to clarity as much as skillset. When the problem, scope, and near-term priorities are well defined, it’s much easier to attract the right technical partner and move faster together.

  2. 1

Vision alignment is important, but most strong technical co-founder matches hinge on execution clarity early on.

A few things that usually help engineers assess fit:

    • What specific problem are you starting with (not the end vision)?
    • What’s the current state — idea, prototype, users, revenue?
    • How do you imagine work and equity being split in the first 6–12 months?

Clarifying these tends to attract partners who resonate with both the vision and the grind.

    Hi David,
Very neat idea, factually speaking - very scalable if executed right.
I understand you are hitting pause on the cofounder search due to idea validation. Should you plan to resume, I am very interested in bringing this platform up and forward with you and, based on what I have seen, would be willing to pitch some ideas as well.
I am a software developer currently working in Goldman Sachs with 4 years of experience across the stack. (Full stack, AI and in the process ) dropping my linkedin if you want to contact later deepgosalia1@gmail (cant post links yet)

Hey, I’m Yash – the MVP guy.
I’ve built Zarky AI, SiplyLearn and Finlix, so I can ship your idea fast and clean.
Most people here look for equity co-founders, but I prefer to start paid so we both move quick and low-risk.
Small budget for a real MVP? Let’s talk.
If it blows up later, we can always do equity.

Hi! I saw your post and I’m also looking for a technical co-founder for an AI project in the hospitality space. I’d love to connect and see if we might help each other or share leads. Feel free to DM me!

Hi, thanks for reaching out! Your AI project in hospitality sounds interesting.
I’d love to learn more about what you’re building too.

I noticed there’s no direct DM option on your profile here, so feel free to send me a direct message on X or LinkedIn, whichever works best for you.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

David, looks like an interesting project. Is this an equity-only role? Not trying to be rude or shoot down the idea, but since you have no prior startup experience, equity-only with a 1-year cliff is going to be a hard sell if you want a co-founder to be heavily involved.

    1. 1

Thanks for letting me know upfront. I really appreciate the honesty.
First of all, we're in a very early stage(pre-mvp), so we don’t have abundant initial capital. And even if we did, my plan is to minimize operating costs and reinvest as much as possible back into the company.
Once revenue starts coming in, I do intend to implement profit sharing, but distributing profits from the very beginning will be difficult.
As for equity, do you have any ideas or proposals you’d like to suggest or recommend?

      1. 1

Are you doing the software development yourself or having someone else doing it? Assuming you're outsourcing that, I'd recommend making sure whoever is doing your software development is able to provide the technical guidance you need as part of the package. With no MVP and little funding, I'd suggest it's too early to have a technical cofounder. (See steps 1-3 here: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/how-to-find-a-technical-cofounder-7-steps-rKvD1wbK0SYY55iC7fE4 )

The main thing to remember is that almost no one else is going to be passionate about your project as you are. Generally, equity will be considered to have $0 in value especially if there's minimal revenue. I've worked with several SaaS startups as a web app developer, and most didn't have a technical co-founder. Instead, they focused on having good web development contractors that could provide the needed technical guidance.

        1. 1

Yes, I don’t have a product yet, and I’d like to assign the technical co-founder the role of building the application for me. I firmly believe that if someone has the right vision and mindset, they can inevitably achieve their goals no matter where they start from, so I think onboarding the right person right now wouldn’t be a problem. That said, as you pointed out, building the app myself first to validate PMF also seems like it could be very valuable.
There’s still room to find a co-founder, but thanks to your advice, I’ve been able to think much more deeply about my overall strategy, and it’s been incredibly helpful. Thank you so much!
