Hey founders, I appreciate your advice on pricing for my B2B SaaS with 2 payment steps:
How to manage payments when users subscribe before completing step 1, for a smooth process?
My 2 major concerns for this type of revenue structure:
Some users may just subscribe directly (maybe I'm being too confident), and they haven't submitted any template, which means at least for the first 3 days of the payment cycle, they cannot really put the product to use.
If I tell a user who wants to subscribe directly like "hey, you need to submit a template first if you want to use your own custom template, then you can subscribe",
it'll create some friction to the whole experience. And I certainly don't want to be put a stopper before the payment step.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone has any thoughts or experience to this. 🙏
I would just let the users sign up for the subscription. Make the instructions on your website as clear as possible that they can wait with subscribing until completing step 1. If they choose to subscribe, it's up to them.
Thanks. I think I'll go with a mix of monthly subscription + credits-based pay as you go. And I'll highlight the one-time template set up fee on the Pricing section, so there'll be misunderstanding from the start.
