Hey Indie Hackers,
I recently launched a project called Textn (teliomsg . com/ login) , and would love your honest feedback. The idea came from my prior experience with my previous startup Fxbulksms. I noticed that most existing bulk sms platforms mainly focus on targeting the big "formal" businesses, leaving SMEs and informal businesses underserved. This neglects a significant market opportunity and limits the ability of these businesses to connect with their audiences effectively. Textn aims to bridge this gap by providing a solution tailored to the needs of SMEs and the underrepresented informal business sectors.
What I've Built:
Textn is a simpler, smarter, and fairer SaaS tool for business communication. Textn was built to help SMEs build a loyal brand through SMS marketing.
# Easily reach customers through SMS text messages with alphanumeric or numeric sender ID
# Efficiently manage customers with contact groups. Manually add/import contacts. Exportable data in .xlsx, .csv
# Pricing is pay-as-you-go plus, a monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual subscription, starting at N2,500 ($1.6). Freemium subscription for businesses until they transmit 3,600 messages
# Businesses can apply for their company registration with (CAC) on Textn. (Crucial for using the alphanumeric sender ID) — USP
Who it's For:
I see Textn being most useful for:
# Service-based businesses like laundromats, barbershops, and salons
# Tradespeople and artisans offering handcrafted products or specialized services
# Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in retail, hospitality, or local services
# Event organizers and community groups looking to share event updates, RSVPs, or reminders in a quick and reliable way.
Why I built it:
This started as a personal project in late May, I was the only validation I needed. I just coded it and used it personally. After realizing others might find it helpful, I decided to open it to the public. My goal is to empower small and medium-sized businesses by providing them with a tool that enhances their visibility, professionalism, and overall value.
As much as I'm passionate about Textn's potential, I realize I do not wish to run the company myself. However, I'm open to merging and selling it together with FxbulkSMS, as Textn (formerly FxbulkSMS), or one could get a basic version of Textn as a standalone tool.
Feedback I'd Appreciate:
1. Does the concept resonate with you? Do you see value in Textn?
2. Do you have any ideas for improving the model or user experience?
3. Any thoughts on the pricing model—is it fair? Too high/low?
4. Do you think selling the company might be a better path? If so, would you or someone you know be interested in acquiring Textn?
I'd greatly appreciate any constructive feedback or suggestions. I'm always ready to learn and iterate. Thanks in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts.
