Seeking half-time marketing co-founder for Day Optimizer

I'm looking for a minimum half-time marketing co-founder to join my SaaS startup Day Optimizer.

Day Optimizer is a digital day planner that has a small base of paying customers, but hasn’t yet achieved product-market fit. Existing customers say things like "Thanks for changing my life with this", but my marketing pipeline is broken.

I'm looking for someone who wants to help shape and grow the business, and in doing so, earn significant equity for future profit sharing or an acquisition.

To learn more about the opportunity, visit https://dayoptimizer.com/cofounder/

Let me know if you're interested or you know someone who might be. Thanks!

@fastfedora I can also create lead magnets for the prospects to sign up for on the lines of the services under https://listbuildify.com

Additionally, I can extract email IDs for the personas of the target audience using https://scrapely.in and we can send cold emails to them.

You can see some of the lead magnet ideas from the website - past work section on the website of Listbuildify. And more about email list building using lead magnets, you can read articles here - https://blog.listbuildify.com/

No thanks. I've already found some candidates I'm talking to and this appears to be a generic message posted to everyone's post.

Separately, I refuse to use cold email to build Day Optimizer. Bulk cold email is spam, pure and simple. You're sending bulk unsolicited commercial emails to people to people who didn't ask for those emails, often in an automation that makes it far worse than normal spam.

If I were you, I would double-down on the lead magnets. When combined with affordable marketing channels that drive traffic to a web site, they can be excellent for list building and are permission-based.

Great book to learn more about permission-based marketing is Seth Godin's classic Permission Marketing: Turning Strangers into Friends and Friends into Customers.

You are right. In my gameplan essentially what I send in the cold emails is one of the lead magnets and not the product sales pitch. This way, I get the consent of those who opt in to send them more emails. Alternatively, if there is a small budget I run an FB ad campaign for the lead magnets (and not the product again) using an email list as a lookalike audience.

@fastfedora Would love to chat with you about how I do this under https://tractionmate.com by focussing on ideal users and carrying on a manual one-to-one outreach.

I like your education-based marketing concept.

Thanks. Though I can't take credit for it. I learned it from Dan Martell, but apparently it's been a defined marketing strategy for a while now.

The only concept I'm really adding is the concept of product preboarding, which is educating your users to make them more effective when they decide to try your product (not related to preboarding in the hiring process, which is what you do between when someone signs a contract and their first day on the job).

Preboarding can be viewed as part of the marketing process, either as education-based marketing or a form of lead nurturing. But while there's overlap, the goal of preboarding to me is to speed up the onboarding process or increase the activation rate of your product rather than to drive interest or improve the registration rate. So the success metric differs.

Hi - @fastfedora, Have you taken up Dan Martell's SaaS Academy Coaching? If yes, please share your experience.
I am thinking of subscribing to their coaching plan but looking for some reviews/ feedback. Thanks.

The content is excellent and he has hired a great set of coaches. He does a great job of creating frameworks and systems for different B2B SaaS growth strategies. The coaching calls are structured so there is a 15-20 minute introduction of a framework to help build your business, then the remainder is answering people’s questions and direct coaching.

The sales tactics to get into the program are a bit annoying, but the content and coaching there is definitely solid. The Facebook group also tends to have a lot of activity and is a great place to get advice.

If you are joining one of his programs, definitely do some searches for coupons or negotiate with them. They do offer discounts through coupons that aren’t too hard to find. I paid upfront for my first year using a coupon and have now extended into my second year as a monthly subscription.

If price is an issue, he draws on the concepts that exist for free in many books and online video tutorials. You could probably get half the equivalent content just watching his own free YouTube tutorials or by watching Business of Software / MicroConf videos. Though he has also put together a lot of his own frameworks that I find valuable as well, and obviously I'm still finding value since I'm in my 2nd year.

One final note: while in the early days Dan Martell would jump on calls once or twice a month, now the Growth Accelerator program is almost entirely run by his team of coaches. If you're planning on doing SaaS Academy or one of his higher-end programs, then you'll see more of him.

          Hope that's useful!

Thanks @fastfedora. I joined the Growth Accelerator program a month back.
The frameworks are good but I felt the direct application is when one already has leads in pipe. Right now my struggle is more at the lead generation level. :)

            1. 1

The frameworks definitely also apply to lead generation, though it does depend on what your business is on how you'll apply them.

If you're in the program and looking to generate leads, focus on the Growth Map, Content Marketing Strategy and Paid Ads Funnel core modules first.

I don't have a sales-oriented SaaS, but if you do, then also check out the Sales modules under the Core Modules section.

These knowledge nuggets from someone who has already gone through the same journey are gems. Thank you soo much!

Have picked up core modules and each module is giving me tons of action items to pursue.

By the way - Did you find the half time co-founder (marketing). How is your experience.

              1. 1

Yes, I did find my half-time marketing co-founder. So far the experience has been good. We haven't seen the results either of us had hoped for yet, but we're both putting in the hours and have a great working relationship.

These things take time, and we were quite ambitious in our kick-off planning session. We're 3 months in, so are doing another strategy session this week to incorporate what we learned so far, and how to tackle the rest of the year (part of which will incorporate some of the lead generation strategies from Growth Accelerator—so ask me in another 3-4 months how that went 😁).

                1. 1

Congratulations! and all the best. Will t/b soon.
