Hey fellow Indie Hackers,
I'm diving into the world of product roadmap tools (particularly Canny) and I'm curious if anyone else has experience leveraging these tools for marketing purposes.
A bit about me: I develop themes for HubSpot's marketplace. I've got a solid user base of around 30,000 HubSpot customers using my free themes, with a growing number opting for the paid version of my HubSpot theme called 'Generator'
Recently, I implemented Canny to capture feature requests and showcase a product roadmap for the paid version of my theme. Here's my train of thought: I can use my product roadmap tool (Canny) to engage with my free theme users by encouraging them to suggest features for potential integration into the paid version. This not only provides them with an avenue to influence the product roadmap but also allows me to discuss the advantages of the paid theme, potentially leading to upsells.
I see Canny as more than just a tool for managing feature requests; maybe it can be a way to generate awareness of my paid theme and open up a dialogue with my audience, allowing me to better understand their needs and preferences.
So, has anyone else experimented with using product roadmap tools like Canny for marketing purposes? I'd love to hear your insights, tips, and any lessons learned along the way.
Let's discuss and learn from each other's experiences!
