Seeking Opinions: Navigating the Impact of AI on Programmers and Digital Products
The advent of AI and the different models, all more or less powerful, are evolving at a disconcerting pace (imo). Where some people see it as the starting point of a new prosperous era for programmers, I confess that I see something more pessimistic with the beginning of the Matrix film scenario...
Both exciting and disturbing, as a programming enthusiast and indie dream chaser two questions are strongly on my mind regarding Computer Sciences in general and the future top trends of Product Hunt or other SAAS and independent product platforms.
The first one is quite fashionable at the moment by evoking the rivalry between the different AI models and the programmers/graphic designers etc...
Basically, do you think that developpers and most of the "reflexions" jobs are threatened by the future AI models?

My guess : When we see the progress from GPT-3 to GPT-4 in a few months, I must say that it's very complicated to continue working without worrying about being replaced soon, like a sword of Damocles over my head.
AI impact in the Indie Hackers Market
Here is my principal question (since the first one has been discuted in some other places)
My other question is a little less addressed on the web from my research but, do you think it's really possible today or in the near future to bring new products to the market that don't have AI built into their operation?
Just take a look at Product Hunt's top trends to see that AI is more than predominant.
My guess : I don't see it as a problem in itself, but as an indie it seems for the vast majority of cases really complicated to create competitive AIs considering the amount of data needed and the limited means of an independent (maybe I'm wrong). Knowing that, in order to offer more and more competitive products, won't we always be at the mercy of the big companies offering solid AI and therefore never really be independent?
Hope to have meaningful exchanges here with thoughtful contributions from those who are genuinely interested. Unlike most people on Reddit who tend to hold extreme binary views without being able to argue their position (lot of trollers i think btw).

So here’s my take to your second question in my opinion: it’s going to be incredibly hard to build, scale or manage a product without AI automations built in. It’s going to be less interesting to a lot of people which in particular are users. Is it possible to bring in this product? Yes. Is it possible to scale at a remarkably fast pace? No. I think the trend setting here is going to be more like an us vs them scenario between companies.

I’d say some indies would very well get into the field of AI as we’ve already seen. Just look over the front page of PH and you’d see what I’m talking about. A ton of tools, companies or projects built these days are efficiency driven with AI. A lot of the things I think we need now is not sharpening a tool that already exists but building sectors that have not been developed in ages. So to answer your question about where indies would position themselves, then I’d say they build up these underdeveloped sectors. I would position myself here too.
