Self-Driving Boats (with Ethereum)

I am starting out a new project, wanted to know what folks here think :)

"solar powered self-driving boats to ship parcels internationally"

My background is Machine Learning engineer at Big Tech, doing this project cause sounds super fun!

Here is the notion landing page https://www.notion.so/Self-Driving-Boat-70b42d3f9a3b420ba31ae7389ab783eb#e04a7493ce574aa7b99d3da77dc715fd

I will also be building in public streaming on my Twitch account in 5 mins https://www.twitch.tv/http_lessand_ro

Hmm intriguing what distance do you think this would be useful for? How would it compete against flying drones water ways are as heavily regulated in many parts of the world than air space and cargo loop?

flying drones for parcels are unefficient, especially for more than 10kg payloads, really energy expensive to lift all the way up into the sky.

water ways heavily regulated? I am learning about that right now. Can you tell me more?

I found out that international waters is actually an 'unowned' territory so there you don't need to abide by any state law, so that sounds actually interesting.

What distances? cross-contintental! sends 100kgs of branded clothes from Italy to China, right now it costs 1000$ for airfreight, mainly cause jet fuel is crazy expensive and also extremely harmful for the environments. Sending it with this boat would have zero operational costs and also have zero emissions :)

True but ones you are up you can basically cruise so getting up as quickly as possible in the air is best.

While in water you have constant resistance and speed is terrible. Also if you go cross-contental you have to deal with very rough seas and big waves so size does matters far more.

Also economics on the water work against you there is a reason why there are huge container ships it is basic economy of scale here. So I might be wrong but I find it hard to see an actual a market for small packages across such large distances on the ocean at that slow speed. In general cargo loop is the only reasonable approach for smaller cargos at longer distances I can think of.
