Selling to Realtors?

Anyone here have a business selling software tools (or other SaaS) to Realtors? I've had some Realtors get started with ContactLink, and it looks like a good target market.

If you've learned anything non-obvious and useful in selling to Realtors, please post a comment below!

I am imagining a combination of email and outbound phone to Realtors in my city as a start. Will add direct mail if people seem to be responding. Here is the pitch:

“What if new clients could video-call you from your website? Or grab a link from your yard signs and video-call you from there?

I’m Jesse Hercules, I started ContactLink here in Memphis Tennessee to help realtors like you. I want you answering video calls from qualified home buyers and sellers. Not dealing with robocalls and SPAM emails.

For $29 a month, you can put a contact link on your website, business cards and yard signs. From that link, they can send you a video call. If you want people to list their house with you, don’t send them to voicemail. Don’t send them to email.

Let them video call you from your website, yard signs and business cards. I will give you a coupon code to try it for 30 days free."

Does this seem workable? Changes you would make??

    Hey there,

I really admire this idea. I have been working in the real estate industry for seven years, and I am going to be completely honest with you. I feel like most agents would not want anyone video calling them, especially from their yard signs. A lot of agents are older and, from my experience, have a lot of issues when it comes to technology. I like the idea of having a video call on their website, but agents work around the clock and are more likely to gravitate towards text messaging when working a deal as opposed to video chat. I don't think that the majority market of agents will want anyone video calling them.

BUT: I do think that MAYBE the video chat could work with the younger agents online, so you may want to shoot towards those people as your target market.

As far as putting something on a yard sign, would agents need to reprint/restructure their yard signs in order to fit the video link (I'm assuming a QR code?) In this market, there aren't many drive-bys, and a QR code would need to be really big if someone were to be driving by, otherwise they will not see it. Most people find their listings through MLS. Also, agents don't want to do any extra work, so having them restructure their yard sign to fit a big enough QR code could be a potential issue.

One more thing- be careful with using the word "realtor" in your business description. It is actually a trademarked word and you could get HUGE fines and fees for using the word and could have your company shut down. I know... ridiculous... but just how it is. You would need to change the word to "real estate agent."

Best of luck. I hope that this helped!

Thanks! Very helpful feedback. You are right, the links are QR codes and I guess I was assuming people got out of the car to look at a house. And take a paper flyer, etc. But apparently not! So the yard signs might not be such a big selling point.

The ContactLink product is not video-chat-only, there are options for voice call, text message, secure email, book an appointment and of course the video chat. I had thought the video calling was the unique hook of the product, but perhaps I should just give the menu of options?

Would love to hear more about the Agent Nest so I can recommend it to realtors that I market to - I like to be able to recommend helpful 3rd party services on sales calls, so they get value from the call even if they don't buy from me.

If you're up for it, please book a time and we can talk! My link is: https://ContactLink.to/Jesse.Hercules
