Senate considers ban on data brokers selling health and location info

I agree this should be a law. But what if it does become law — it's not like these giant companies will stop finding buying and or selling massive amounts of personal data. This is where Web3 could make a difference. The system is so busted; let's build it anew.

There are so many companies — and government entities —that have violated privacy by purchasing data through brokers.

This should be a no-brainer for Americans and lawmakers but, of course, it'd chip into many politicians' donations. As usual, I'd expect almost nothing to happen or a watered-down version of this to pass in 5 years. Also:

At the same time, lawmakers are worried about access to abortion seekers' data when the Supreme Court is expected to overturn Roe vs. Wade. This measure could limit anti-abortion politicians and activists hoping to target patients."
