SendGrid wants to speak to my customers?

Hi All,

I applied for a new SendGrid account yesterday and was instantly told my account required more information. This is what they asked for:

Please provide the following information:

  1. Your full name to help us confirm your identity.
  2. Your professional social media profile such as GitHub, Upwork, Twitter or LinkedIn.
  3. A website of the client you are building this app for.
  4. An email address that matches your website domain or a screenshot of a receipt that verifies domain ownership.

I provide this information. I was then met with a response that they need to talk to my client to 'confirm my affiliation' before they can proceed.

Has anyone ever opened an account with SendGrid before and been met with such invasive, unacceptable 'vetting' processes?

I own the domain, I am the developer of the application. They are just my first of hopefully, many clients.

I'm now looking for another provider because those requirements are beyond reasonable or regular as they put it.

Thoughts?
