SEO backlink strategies for bootstrappers

With all the SEO threads lately I'm curious what Indie Hackers are doing with regards to link building.

Any success stories or tips for bootstrapped SAAS marketers out there?

Or do you think link building is hyped up by marketing agencies and spammers.

In my view it is fairly essential in any slightly competitive market, but I also really dislike doing it for clients, unless it is part of a digital PR campaign which scales and is fun to plan. Getting links that make a difference is really hard work so I feel for anyone else out there working on this.

The only real success I have had in building worthwhile backlinks is answering #JournoRequest on Twitter and a HAROs.

I agree with @tomzaragoza - mini products are a great way to go. Mixing that with news jacking would be 🔥

I don't think it's overhyped, but I personally like to focus on building media that is backlinkable.

As a dev, i can build mini products that are free and helpful and can garner some backlinks.

Personally Im not a fan of emailing ppl about getting backlinks!

I think you hit the nail on the head about building mini products. This is the indie hackers secret weapon for link building.
