SEO for image heavy sites
My project www.bubblinglab.com is very image heavy and does not have a lot of wording. I am guessing that this would impact my SEO is there anything that I can do to try and improve my ranking in search engines for people looking for design ideas. I don't really want to add loads of text to the pages as I feel this would detract from its purpose.

As commented, ass title and alt attribute to your images. On the other hand, you can always add text hidden for the user but for crawlers such as what does that company, where is it from, etc.
Sure you could even use schema.org to boost your SEO
Make sure the non visible parts of your site are super optimised. For example, every image should have an alt/title (I'm forgetting which one), the page titles and URLs should be well written, etc.
Implement a CDN. Use image compressors. Resize and use the correct format when possible, etc.
