There is an exciting SEO hack that companies like SEMrush or Podia are using called comparisons pages.
You are building dedicated landing pages in which you compare [ ๐๐ป Your solution] vs. [ ๐ฑ Competitors Solution].
In this weekโs video, I unpack the whole strategy.
Whenever I see such a comparison page I feel kinda cringe, like it's very bad taste.
Maybe it's good for SEO but honestly, something inside me doesn't like it, I don't know why.
Landing pages convert well, but you're more likely to rank well if you format this as a blog post instead. Furthermore, this doesn't exactly work for a new product since nobody is searching for you vs anyone.
Here are two ways I've modified this tactic to work for a new product I'm marketing.
1. Use a triple versus
Find a keyword comparing two products in your space and then tack your product onto the end. For instance, if people are searching for "X vs Y" then you would write an article titled, "X vs Y vs Us."
You'll get to rank for the "X vs Y" keyword while introducing people to your tool too. It works really well because people get curious when they see a third option in the title, so it tends to get an excellent CTR.
2. Use alternative keywords
Find all your competitors and then check if they have any traffic for alternative keywords, like "Product X alternatives."
You can publish an article for every single one of these keywords recommending your own product as the best alternative.
Everyones been doing this for years. How to make it more interesting though as they are often sooo dull to read :)
Was about to write just this ๐
This is old techniques ๐
Awesome video man.
When I see a comparison page, I always laugh. It's funny how competitive the game is, but that's the world we living in
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Maximilian,
Comparisons pages can be a great SEO hack for companies to generate traffic and leads. By creating dedicated landing pages that compare your solution against your competitors' solutions, you can provide valuable information to potential customers and showcase the benefits of your product.
When creating these pages, it's important to focus on the value proposition of your product and how it stands out from the competition. Highlighting the unique features and benefits of your solution can help convince potential customers to choose your product over the competition.
It's also important to provide objective and accurate information in your comparisons, as misleading or inaccurate information can harm your credibility and reputation.
Overall, comparisons pages can be a powerful tool for companies looking to improve their SEO and generate more leads. However, it's important to approach this strategy with care and ensure that the information presented is both accurate and compelling.

can confirm! This strategy definitely works. I tried it on Medium and compared Evernote vs. OneNote (and included my project in there hehe) and it got orders of magnitude more views almost overnight, and we got a bunch of traffic and signups right away.
good job!!
Great Content Max!! Super insightful
Interesting SEO hack, never thought about this from an SEO standpoint but I guess that makes sense.
You're right. In my last company, I shared a strategy to bring hot traffic to our site by utilizing this strategy. It was a great strategy to get traffic because if you're new, your competitors already have a good reputation. By using an alternative option, potential customers will come across your product and indirectly become aware of your brand.
It's amazing that you have shared the picture of Podia with all the other comparisons. This way, it may generate a huge amount of hot traffic. You have shared a good video.
Now, we are already doing the same with our current project, Churnfree. It's a customer retention tool and helping busineses to grow their business by reducing the high customer churn rate.
That sounds like a fantastic strategy! Creating comparison pages can be a very effective way to showcase the unique value proposition of your product or service, while also highlighting any areas where your offering may be superior to that of your competitors.
By providing your potential customers with a clear and comprehensive breakdown of the features and benefits of your solution compared to those of your competitors, you can help them make an informed decision about which product or service is the best fit for their needs.
Moreover, these comparison pages can also help you to establish credibility and authority in your industry, by demonstrating your expertise and knowledge of the market.
I'm glad to hear that companies like SEMrush and Podia are using this hack to drive their SEO efforts, and I'm sure many other businesses will be inspired to follow suit. Thanks for sharing this exciting strategy!
Doing right now the same for http://www.cactivision.com it works pretty well also of domainwise my main competitor, Activision is getting most of my Google traffic
Super!
Applied same strategy at this gaming site and found it fruitful. https://minimilitiamods.net/mini-militia-mod-apk/
It also works with a simple blog post "X vs Y". I used to do this for affiliation blog posts ๐
This is exactly what I need. Thanks!
Great video, Max! A nice trick to follow.
Some videos showing the process to develop a solution like this one could be great (I suppose that is a 100% understanding of the business and its boundaries)...
I've subscribed to your channel ๐ช๐ฝ
