SEO KEYWORDS EXPERIMENT | From 0 to 172 impressions in 2 days

The numbers might seem funny, but oh boy, with our blog success, that’s a lot. Our blog hasn’t been our strong side for a while, that I can admit. We used to get up to 15 clicks at the very most, even with sharing it on social media.

However, we find it one of the best prospects that could bring us installs & investment in the long run, so we started focusing on it more & experimenting with different approaches.

Here what main mistakes we noticed & are trying to work out:

❌ We couldn’t get what the keyword system was.

Apparently, sometimes only the right keyword in the title does the big change. However, even by trying out a bunch of keyword tools, we find that it’s not necessarily accurate, and the key is to experiment constantly.

❌ We didn’t try to change the headlines & notice the traffic tendencies after.

These two were proven by one example to us. We uploaded this blog post that’s headline was “Best galleries and museums in the USA 2023”. It didn’t get any traffic, but… we included the word “exhibitions” in the name, and this happened:

Impressions increase RatePunk blog

See the jump? That’s the day we did it & the change in clicks and impressions it brought.

❌ We didn’t jump on trends on time - most often came in late.

Like writing about Thanksgiving the night before Thanksgiving. Genius masterminds - of course, it wouldn’t gain traffic. But we noticed the complete opposite with our Black Friday blog post - the timing was right, and clicks with impressions sky-rocketed (compared to our previous results). That put our blog post on THE FIRST PAGE of Google search results.

Good blog trends timing

❌ We wrote about any topic that came to mind & was travel-related.

This goes back to the previous mistakes: the topic on the internet are not chosen in any order. There are trends and tendencies for every industry that you JUST HAVE to follow if you’re not a known name & your DA is low, but you still want people to find your information.

❌ We relied too much on quality & not quantity. One blog post per day is not enough.

It just gets lost in that enormous flow of information. First, we tried 2-3 blog posts per week, then - at least 1 daily. However, now we’re trying to upload AT LEAST 2-3 PER DAY. That gives us more chances it will perform & we notice the change to the good side.

We're working on it constantly. Looking forward to where it gets us. You can check the blog here: https://www.ratepunk.com/blog.

    Respect man.
In my agency we have been working on small business blog for a while, it didn't catch on even with great keywords. We are trying to understand what could be done better.

Our main goal for 2023 will be to create more valuable content - helping owners improve 1% each time.
We will try changing some of the stuff like you mentioned here, thank you

I get your struggle, really. I hope that something from the aspects mentioned above helps to improve the impressions and clicks at least a bit.

      Good luck!
