Dear IH-community,
I hope you have a great week ;)
I have coded a nodejs application that is using puppeteer for web scrapping and I am loading the scrapped data in a wordpress application.
I am a bootstrapper and self-funded and looking for a cheap/reliable server solution, to release my project to the public. As I am self-funded I am looking for a fixed price solution preferably less than <30 bucks per month.
What are you using? What are the pro's and con's?
Any good suggestions?
Hetzner has great dedicated servers for about $25/month with SSDs and all. Dedicated means complete freedom to run any service you need, they have 1GBit unlimited networking. and their ping times seem to be pretty good even for US. Cons: you have to setup the servers yourself.
In terms of a low end vps, I've went with DigitalOcean for the mean time. Low prices, reviews are decent, for what its worth they have 99.99% sla. I also had a droplet with them for about a year that I just used to mess about with and everything was painless. The other one I considered was Hetzner, they're cheaper again, but I likely would have had to wait a few days as they require an ID check from what I gather.
I'd be curious to know if anyone hosts with OVH or online.net (or their alt brands) what the uptime is like, whether it be vps or dedicated server.
Google Cloud has its free plan.
I'm using Linode cloud hosting which is very flexible and affordable. Prices start at $5 per month for 1GB RAM and 25 GB SSD. Very reliable and without any problems. I'm using it for about two years now. I chose Frankfurt as the server location to comply with GDPR more easily.
