I just started this new book, Obviously Awesome. It's all about how to position your product in an effective way. I thought this would be the perfect read for where we are right now with GetSpeedBack.
We're in this sort of in-between. We've built the platform, we're testing the platform, and now we're starting to sell. Our pricing and positioning is based on gut instinct for now. Our myriad customer interviews have yielded insights on how we should get started.
It's important to note, though, that things will DEFINITELY change.
I think that makes "starting" much easier to do. If we just pick a point and get going, we'll start to learn. Go into the process knowing you'll experiment!
For now, we're committing and we'll learn one way or another as we continue to talk with more companies. We'll gather this information, along with input from mentors and books, and work to refine our offering.
I keep reminding myself that you have to jump in and get started...it's the only way to learn. Having this startup journal to remind myself helps out with that.

April came to my hometown and did an excellent talk. Bought and read her book immediately. Great insight and I love the way she dissects marketing down to its positioning (before layering on the rest of promo things).
Oh that's really cool! Yeah she does an incredible job of simplifying the process. Think I'll finish the book up just to absorb and then I'll go back and hit each of the steps with my business in mind.
The only piece I'd add to her suggestions and the book.. have fun with it :)
Check out my profile/company/website if you'd like a sample of that hahah
You’re taking the right attitude here. We’ve changed our pricing for The Agent Nest many times. Honestly, in the early days it’s not a big deal.
The key is to grandfather in your existing customers if you go higher, or lower their cost if you finalize on lower. As long as your users prices aren’t fluctuating daily, no one is going to care if you do a lot of experimenting to find the sweet spot.
Awesome, thanks so much Shane. Excited to get going and see what we can learn.
