Hi.
Looking to set up a quick/dirty dev/test/production process for webapps.
The process will use cheap VMs.
Process will combine test/dev, with prod having separate VM
I'm looking to have a few remote devs, so I need to have a process to allow the devs to contribute, but at the same time, not screw up anything if they flake off.
I'm thinking of allowing devs to access the dev/test VM process to work on the code, etc. The test/dev VM would have a combination of "Groups"/selinux roles to manage what a dev could do.
Once code is through the dev/test process, it would get pushed to the prod VM/side of the process.
I'm looking for feedback on the overall process I've described, as well as looking for any sysAdmin who's up to helping me get this up/running asap.
I'm not looking for a handout, there's $$$ for helping get this process up/running. (Although, maybe not as much $$$ as you want!)
Hit me up if you're interested.
Thanks
ps. If this gets up/running, I'd be open to allowing others to access it as well.
What stack are you looking to use/deploy?
Hey Ryan.
The larger issue that I'm looking to deal with is to create some software apps/webapps/etc, using potentially remote/unknown developers. Getting devs from fiverr/upwork, not sure if they won't flake and there goes the codebase into the wild.
So, I'm looking to create a quick/dirty dev/test/prod process to allow devs to be onboarded, and to spit put the resulting code.
I'm thinking of using github/gitlab (given that priv repos for multiple users is basically free) as the backup/version control platform
I'm thinking of cheap digitalocean VMs to be the dev/test area
-might just allow the devs to do code dev on their local machine.
or on the dev VM.. still thinking this through
The prod machine will be DO VM
Not sure what will be the DNS, or where I'll get the url/domain name from
The process might employ some basic actions/processes to push/pull code from the github as code is checked in/out
might have a series of actions to do basic testing/monitoring of the overall process
Still thinking of the issue tracking/testing process
The VMs will be running centos8. Need to find a sysAdmin to handle the management/securing of these items.
There's alot more.
But I'm not here to bore you.
