One-time sales are easier than SaaS. Who would've guessed?! But only 3 weeks ago I came to this conclusion (after doing only SaaS for years).

The biggest eye opener for me is discovering Tailwind CSS https://tailwindcss.com -- I rewrote my blog in an evening to use it, several side projects, and my new startup is going to be launching with it too. It's refreshing and I feel less CSS/SASS stupid using it.
May I ask why Tailwind makes that much of a difference?
Sure thing. I think it uncomplicated the toolchain by a few layers. So if you want to update something as trivial as blue links into red links you can just change it on the page. You don't have to have npm, node, sass, etc and go through a compilation sequence.
That said, if you find yourself using the same series of button css/tailwind classes on every button on your website, you can use the
@applymixin and build your own components. You have the power to do both.Bootstrap was great, but when you get past the basics or discover a float bug, troubleshooting is really complicated because you have to understand both CSS and Bootstrap's internals to troubleshoot or fix an issue. Whereas Tailwind feels more like CSS shorthand with a really well thought out style guide.
Oh, yeah. For quick UI creation I've found Tailwind invaluable. Have some tools in the making to integrate and customise easier with Rails applications too. Ready in a few weeks.

I discovered that I was able to quit my job and make a living, so that was pretty amazing!
But more relevant to the crowd here, I discovered OctoberCMS: https://octobercms.com/ - and with it, I was able to build a few websites entirely in-browser, with simple markup. I was pretty impressed by this one.
I discovered the podcast, Conversations with Tyler.
Oh... It seems like a unique and interesting podcast... learning from great minds.

On IH there was a post about lessons learnt from Y Combinator, one of which was to distill the tagline of your product to the clearest, most concise statement (e.g. instead of "use technology to bla bla more effectively, save time and earn more money" say "we give your business a phone number instantly"). Well guess what, that blog teaches you the same but faster and all without the hassle of going through YC.
