I charge nothing! 😅 I probably should right? Trying to figure out the right time .... but been building and iterating non stop! I was thinking $4-5 a month and maybe lifetime for $30?

My project is Sidekick. It's a productivity tool to manage your kanban tasks/to dos and schedule them as pomodoro sessions. You can also block distracting websites so your sessions are as uninterrupted as possible!

    1. 7

This looks so clean! Thats a lot work for not charging, I've had a horrible time trying to build a calendar system so that alone must have been a ton of work.

As a sidenote it looks like your homepage has a lot of scroll to the right, it's coming from your footer padding adding an extra 10% to the left/right.

      1. 3

        Thanks so much!

AHHH - I scratched my head about why that was happening for so long :D Sometimes, you just need some outside perspective :). Thanks for catching that. We fixed it!

          1. 1

Thank you so much! Definitely using this going forward :)

    2. 4

I just registered and it looks like a really nice project! The "productivity" category is very competitive and complex, so kudos for the effort, allison_mui!
You may have already answered this, but how long have you been working on Sidekick?

Regarding the price I don't have much experience, but I think lifetime access for $30 is too cheap (especially if the monthly cost is 4/5$).

      1. 1

Thanks so much Marco! I'm looking forward to hearing more about your thoughts and ideas :)

We've (2 ppl) been working on Sidekick for just about 1.5 years.

Yeah pricing is so difficult right! You definitely don't want to undersell it but you want it cheap enough that it's enticing.... I think my long term plan is selling to schools/enterprises and making individual licenses very cheap or free. Not sure - so many ideas. But this is what indie hacking is, isn't it? :)

    3. 3

Definitely should offer some paid plans, this is a fairly complex application that already provides some value. I realize from your other responses here that you have greater ambitions for it but honestly that's always going to be the case. It's clear a large amount of work already went into this and it is useful and usable now, don't feel bad about allowing folks to reciprocate monetarily.

      1. 2

:) Thanks! That really means a lot. Will definitely take it to heart. Paid plans soon!!

    4. 2

Hey man, you should charge even if it's a little amount. Or even put a buy me coffee button. I would use this and also pay for it.

      1. 1

Thanks for the encouragement! Love the buy me a coffee idea.

Just wondering - how much would you pay for Sidekick? It'd be interesting to hear your dollar value for it. No hard feelings for your answer btw haha - just really curious! Thanks :)

        1. 1

I have just set up everything and want to observe it for a week but $5 would be ideal.

          1. 1

Thanks for your insight! I'll definitely keep that in mind :). Looking forward to hearing more about your thoughts and ideas.

    5. 2

When do you think will be the right time to charge? We face the same dilemma with more than 1000 monthly active users 🤷🏻‍♂️ @allison_mui

      1. 1

Hm - yeah totally empathize with the dilemma. Congrats on over 1000 MAUs! That's awesome :)

For me - I'm working towards fulfilling a key offering set. Right now, Sidekick is a Chrome Extension. It works! But imo not as effective as it can vs. a desktop app. So I'm thinking it wouldn't be right to charge until Sidekick is acceptably effective in my own eyes at its core functions.

In short, I think charge when it's something I would pay for myself.... but that could definitely set up mishaps for perfectionists.

What do you think? Do you have a milestone or event to reach?

        1. 2

We thought about a milestone of passing week 1 50% retention. But again, we don't know, it is just because we don't have any other metric that we can think of that gives us a good indication of how much "people love the product" because it is a low touch acquisition process product. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    6. 1

Your products are awesome Allison. Do you mind if I email you to ask you for advice on a few things?
      Thanks, Ahmed

      1. 1

Yeah of course! Feel free to DM me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/heyallieson. You can also email [email protected] but I'm more active on Twitter!

    7. 1

Just checked out your website and I definetly agree with Harrjim, the website looks really beautiful and crispy clean!

If you need help regarding figuring out pricing, feel free to text me :)

      1. 2

        Thanks! I'll consider it :)

    8. 1

Its a fantastic project! I absolutely love the vision board idea, and how it keeps popping up to remind us of why we are doing what we are doing. I've used other tools for vision boards but they get lost.

I also love the scheduling tasks with breaks and instantly directs you to break ideas vs wasting break time to determine what to do.

Signing up right now! Keep up the great work!

      1. 1

Awesome! Thanks so much for your kind words and support. It means a lot.

I'm excited to hear about your experience more. Please let me know if you have any feedback or ideas on how to improve! :)

    9. 1

      Very nice and clean !
Can I contact you in some ways?

      1. 1

Thanks for your feedback! Surely - you can reach me at [email protected]

Looking forward to your message :)

    10. 1

Will check this out. This seems interesting

      1. 1

Thanks! Excited to hear your feedback and thoughts :)

    11. 1

Nice. How much are your competitors charging? (and how good are they?)

      1. 1

Thanks! Hmm... we have a couple main competitors (ex. Cold Turkey, Freedom). They mostly have freemium models or lifetime for $40 - $100. Starting with competitors is a really nice idea! I'm kind of torn on the freemium models though. Most of our user base is students are side hustlers (those that I assume don't have that much spare money). I think I prefer free trials vs. freemium. Do you have any thoughts or experience about this?

        1. 1

As a user I'd prefer freemium with a free trial to the premium.
Even free users are very valuable (unless you've to churn serious money in keeping them) so you might wanna keep them.

          1. 1

Thanks for your insight! Something I'll keep thinking about :)

  2. 1

I just deployed the first version of my new app ChatRat.xyz, create custom AI chatbots for any website. Just upload pdfs or text and let your users chat with that information :D

    1. 3

FYI…you've still got "lorem ipsum" text in various places, other placeholder text, typos, and accidental links out to the theme template. 😬

      1. 1

Thanks! I know. This is new domain and I'm still in the process of moving my site to it.

  3. 5

Hey we charge absolutely nothing for https://dupple.com right now, so if you need to gather feedbacks and want to build a product people really want do not hesitate to try us! :)

    1. 1

      Hey @Rifal i get a 403 from your Site.

    2. 1

      Hi Rifal,

I was happy to give it a shot, but I never received the signup e-mail (I tried twice, the second time with the captcha).

      1. 1

Hey Guido, have you checked your spam folder? Because on our side we see that we've sent you something. Please let me know so that we fix this.
(you can contact me at [email protected])

  4. 5

Interesting topic 😅 Owwly charge $5 for one day of promotion on the main site - if you looking for some additional traffic and new users visiting your website, it's worth try 🔥

    1. 2

I think you could safely 3x that to $15

      1. 1

Worth to test in the future 😉

    2. 1

Very interesting, maybe I'll post Pin garden when it's time! (:
My opinion is a bit against the other comments: I think 5$ is a fair cost, as long as there is not too much moderation/manual work behind it.

Of course, this depends on the number of visits, the target audience and other factors, but raising it too much would cut off a good portion of potential buyers.

Maybe you can charge more if the user is in a hurry or wants to choose a specific day for publication.

    3. 1

You can definitely charge more as your audience for this grows!

Think about the customers who pay you to promote there. What's their customer acquisition cost? For some companies, that might be, say $250.

If you can promote them and get them one customer, you can charge them $200.

If you can get them 5 customers, you can charge them $1,000.

So as soon as you can predictably promote somebody and send them 1+ customer, see who's promoting, what it costs them to acquire a single customer, and base your pricing on that. I bet it will be significantly higher than what you're currently priced at.

    4. 1

I started following Owwly about a week ago on Twitter. I think you're on to something.

  5. 4

Hey, I've been having a hard time market https://envsecrets.com. Places like this thread are a rare gift. Thank you so much for this amazing thread ❤️

envsecrets.com is an open-source end-to-end encrypted tool to manage your environment secrets. It essentially wages a war on your .env files and supercharges your secrets management.

I've love for you guys to create an account and take it for a spin. Let me know how you feel about it, whether I should be charging more for it, and ping me in case you need any help! ❤️

Hey, I made an app for college students to track their attendance for a dollar! it's called BunkMate and its on the app store

    1. 1

I have a curious and honest question.

I'm sure there are so many free alternatives out there for tracking attendance. How do you justify college students spend a dollar against using those free alternatives?

(I mean to ask this to understand the business of this situation - is all)

      1. 2

        I love your question!

I think I can justify the price by saying that it has a modern user interface as opposed to other apps that do the same, I'm saying this because I was on the lookout for such apps.

Secondly, the app provides various other features like the ability to view your class timetable and very soon the ability to track test scores, making it (sort of) an all in one app if you may. I also made use of Apple frameworks like widget kit to make the whole 'tracking' part of it easier

We let families and or others write an online diary, with unlimited online storage, backups, conversion to PDF ebook and automatic layout suggestions to print photobooks out of it.
It was tailored for mums + dads, but we are currently expanding to other target groups like: travelers, pet owners, etc
It's a webapp that you can use on desktop and your smartphone/tablet without any need to sync.

Subscription is 9,90€ per month payed yearly. We mainly sell to users in Germany, Austria and Swiss

(can't post links) app is called "YAY" and you can find it via google yay memories

  8. 3

My product is ToneScholar, which is an ear training web app for musicians. I currently charge $0 because I am still struggling to get users :)

I am thinking of trying a subscription model for between $5-10 per month, which is similar to some existing competitors.

It's possible that adding pricing may make my product seem more legit and valuable to potential customers. Nevertheless, I'd like to see solid retention with a completely free version as I would like the app to be genuinely valuable to people.

    1. 1

Hi @strugbus, I find this super interesting. Do you have an application for this as well? That might make getting users much easier.

  9. 3

I am not charging anything yet, because this is my first SaaS product and people don't know my product yet, so I have decided to offer this service for free temporarily until I get more people who are interested in paying to use my product.
https://qrcodex.org is an advanced QR code generator and link cutter with custom domains, our tool allows you to add tracking pixel from facebook, twitter, quora, pinterest and google analitycs. there is also a feature to know who has scanned your QR code.

    1. 1

This looks really cool! I'm not sure how you'll get people to pay, maybe companies for custom stuff.
Your product does a lot, but since you've already done the work why not make separate landing pages for each pitch. I could definitely see a lot of interest in "The Trackable QR Code!" If you're still having trouble driving people to the sight consider having one of the pitches absolutely free to drive tons of traffic and then pay for more features or something.

All that aside, if you try landing pages and that works let me know as that would be interesting. All the best!

I am a CS student and I recently published my first product:
    Meet's Participants Manager

It is a chrome extension for professors. You can easily record, export, and share the participation of your members in csv files. You can also create polls, reply to messages, roll a dice, and more!

It is free, and sadly, I cannot post links yet.
Please give me any feedback you have!

    https://tournacat.com/
We charge monthly per user for $2.50/month and even offer purchasing parity discounts. Basically, it's a Google Workspace add-on that syncs upcoming esports tournaments to your existing Google Calendars :)

So far we just crossed the 100 users mark though only 4 subscribers.

    1. 1

What a cool idea - digging the website too! What's your market like? I imagine this is a pretty good b2b offering for people in the space?

  12. 2

    I really like this topic!

I created a launch list for indie maker to help them better manage launch materials and find place to launch.

Since I know how limited budget we have, so I created the free version, and charge the pro version only 10 dollars.

Here is the product: boostaitraffic www

  13. 2

I'm currently focused on developing the QR Code generator at https://openqr.io. Our Starter plan is priced at $5. I've noticed that several competitors offer similar product functionality at significantly higher prices. It is interesting to me your opinion and how much you could pay for this service.

ADTAQ is charging exactly $10 per month for our entry level "Storage 1" Virtual Private Server. With 1TB of Fast RAID6 Disk, 1vCPU, and 1GB RAM it's a good value but I always recommend folks to spend a little more for our $20/mo 2TB/2vCPU/2GB option as 1GB RAM really limits what you can do with the system.

That said, I absolutely support the "charge more" mindset. Racing to the bottom or relying on advertising just leads to products that are unsustainable or invasive from a privacy perspective.

Maybe I'm an old neckbeard, but I feel like people are happy to pay up when the product has value for them.

  16. 2

We're still in early access mode but once released we charge less than $10/month.

getpersona.ai / Persona creates artificial intelligence personas & assistants so our users can solve complex life challenges, enhance everyday routines, and just have fun.

    1. 1

omg I really love your ideas. I think this budget-friendly pricing structure is a positive aspect that potential customers will likely appreciate.

  17. 2

    I really appreciate this post!!

I'm excited to share with you our latest launch: Trickle AI - Prompts Warehouse. While retaining Trickle's original features, we've now integrated Database and AI into Trickle.

    My Story (Free for children):
There was a group of parents who struggled to answer their children's difficult questions. They found themselves stumped by their children's curious minds and wanted to provide them with the best possible answers. One day, a developer student decided to create an AI project that could help both parents and children. He worked tirelessly, designing and developing a system that could analyze and understand children's questions and generate appropriate responses. Finally, after months of hard work, the Smart Rabbit project was born. Parents and children alike were thrilled with the results, and the project quickly gained popularity..

Last month I've acquired Passdropit.com This is a SaaS that enables users to add a password to their Dropbox and Google Drive links. The site is totally free to use, not even required to create an account. But registering for free opens up more features.
There is a Pro plan if users want to the real nice features (download notifications, analytics, branding, etc). The previous owner charged $9 per month for the Pro package. First thing i did was to lower the price to $5 per month for Pro. Two reasons why I did this. First reason is because Passdropit is massively populair in South East Asia, especially in Indonedia and India, and in my opinion $9 per month is pretty expensive in that region. Second reason is because Passdropit also generates revenue with ads. Currently the monthly ad revenue is more than the subscription revenue. So it's important that many users utilize the website, and that is why I wanted to encourage them to upgrade to Pro and lowered the price.
What are your thoughts? Smart move, or nah?

  23. 2

My friends and I are currently building ExplainThis (https://explainthis.io). It's a free frontend engineering interview prep website. We curated the best interview prep materials for ourselves initially. These materials help us get offers from FAANG companies and unicorn startups.

Then, we asked ourselves why not share it with our fellow frontend engineers? That is how ExplainThis was born. We hope that this website can help people land a job in FAANG or startup companies in the fastest way.

Since the content is free, we don't have any paying customers. Nevertheless, we are hoping to have a business model in which tech brands pay to advertise on our site.

We also have a Buy Me a Coffee page for people to show their support to us :)
You can buy us a coffee on https://www.buymeacoffee.com/explainthis

    1. 1

      Hi Alaster,

The site looks really well done. I think if you can build your own audience it would be easier for brands to advertise with you. I noticed you don't have twitter, would be a great place to start for your first sale.

  24. 2

Recently launched a bot that gives you back your time by automating the engagement process on Twitter.

At Squeaky we have a free tier, but we also aren't actually charging for any of our paid tiers just yet either as we're still beta testing for a few more weeks! Would definitely be curious as to what people think of the tiers - we did a bunch of research and spoke to users about it, but I think we're never going to please everybody!

Was I trying to advertise to you? No 😂. There are plenty of tools in this space (fullstory, smartlook etc), just like there are plenty of companies you can buy shoes from, or helpdesk software. Good luck with obeatow 🙂

        1. 1

I know that I just don't see whats different about you vs. Hotjar. I'm not an Expert or anything in the SaaS industry, but don't successful competitors usually have like different benefits or different features in order to attract customers.

Like Hubspot chat attracts people because it doesn't cost an arm and a leg like Intercom. I would rather use several tools than use one tool that costs an arm and a leg.

I look at Hotjars landing page and it also advertises as being GDPR compliant if that's your benefit.

          1. 1

One of the biggest differences is that you miss a lot of your user data by using Hotjar because up to 42% of users reject the use of cookies, and 68% use VPN which make using IP pointless too. We don't use cookies, or IP-based tracking, so you can capture closer to 100%.

We have been testing that framing too, but haven't settled on anything yet.

            1. 3

I don't use either but looking at these numbers your product clearly looks superior.

  30. 2

I'm building Limiter https://www.applimiter.com/, a low code tool for managing app limits. My MVP is near complete and I'm planning to charge $9 / month for paid tier.

Perhaps the more appropriate term here is subscription limits and quotas, I googled around for a bit but couldn't quite nail down the copy. Haha, will have to go back and refine that later.

  31. 2

Hey all! I created https://smol.pub, a tiny blogging platform. It costs $5.

    1. 1

FYI I love the idea and have been a subscriber for a few months.

  32. 2

Just barely. https://mylinks.ai/ charges $9/month on the pro version. Free for majority of users though :)

    1. 1

How's that working? It sounds similar to my strategy.

  33. 2

    Our project is https://www.ratepunk.com/
We charge nothing! Not sure if we're supposed to charge more, current price sounds fair 😅 It's an extension which compares hotel room prices across the main online travel agencies.

  34. 2

Not sure if it counts, but https://botmenot.com/ is currently free to use!

It's in the beta stage and we're not looking to make any revenue (yet). Instead, we're trying to listen for feedback and make it as useful and as easy to use as possible.

    1. 3

      Cool!

The one challenge with offering a free tool to get feedback is that you're getting feedback from free users, not paying ones. So there's a chance you're building things free users want but that they're not willing to pay for.

If you get people in as paying customers now, even if it's lower than ideal, that's the kindof advice you can build on and create a tool the market will pay for.

Just my two cents. Get a paid plan up ASAP if you want to turn this into a business, IMO!

      1. 2

I understand, will think about it!

    2. 2

This sounds like a great tool, will you be offering tools and guided help to improve site protection in the future? If you tell me my site is vulnerable I may want to know how to fix it if I don't know myself.

      1. 2

        Hey, glad you like it!

Actually, once you perform either Light or Smart Test and get the results you'll be able to go to our interface with details about the test and some recommendations. I'm not sure if you've had the chance to see it?

Just go to Historical Tests and click the icon next to the score!

It's not a completely final version of it, but I think it'll give you a good idea of what we have plannned.

        1. 2

You got me! What I wrote was basically my initial gut impression from a 10 second look. (they say the first 10s are the most important, right?)

          1. 1

That's true, you still provided something valuable to me. I'll definitely see what can be done regarding the homepage and communicating more clearly what BotMeNot does.

    3. 2

How is your experience with Instagram posts, are they increasing the traffic your page gets?

      1. 1

I think usually, unless you're doing ecom it's rare that social media pans out well for returns. Something is better than nothing, but even working in the social media space don't see as a growth channel (maybe I'm thinking of it wrong).

      2. 1

Truth be told, not by much. But I'm currently trying to "play" the long-term game, so we'll see what happens. I've been using the current strategy for only a month now.

  35. 2

I think pricing less than $10 would be so useful for indie hackers who are just starting out or are at pre-revenue.

I could relate to them a lot since I found it hard to pay for services when my projects didn't take off in the beginning.

I'm currently building Famewall to make it easy to highlight social media mentions as testimonials with an added testimonial tool which prompts users to submit testimonials.

There's a free plan. And the paid plan starts from $10 :)

    1. 2

Very interesting idea! I think your pricing is spot on!

    2. 1

      I dig it!

I think $30/mo for unlimited published walls is too cheap. Who will be using this? Probably website building agencies, bigger freelancers, etc. They have more than $360/year to pay to put Twitter walls up on 100 sites!

      1. 1

Interesting. I just got started with pricing. So I'm experimenting with it as well :)

What would be your suggestion , Joe?

        1. 2

I'd personally give it a go at $99/mo! And instead of Custom made plan tailor made for your business, I'd focus more on multi-site folks: Tailor made for agencies managing dozens of websites

Also, the funny thing about the psychology of pricing is that for everybody else, seeing $9.99 next to $99 makes it seem really cheap by comparison. $9.99 next to $29.99 just doesn't have the same effect.

          Just my two cents!

          1. 1

This is quite interesting. But wouldn't making the third plan as high as $99 make it seem as a trick beside $10 ?🤔

            1. 2

              I don't think so!

The tiers are separated based on number of published walls. Someone who publishes 2 walls (maybe you run a few websites) is way different than someone who publishes 20 (you probably manage websites professionally).

So I think it makes sense!

              1. 1

Thanks for the inputs, Joe :)

  36. 2

PodQueue - the missing “Listen Later” for audio on the web. Just $5/mo!

I’ve been working on a new project called www.QuickDemo.co, where you can create interactive demos using your images or screenshots. It's pretty straightforward and can be useful for website demos, onboarding, or creating instructional materials.

You can see a sample demo on our landing page to get an idea of how it works.

    Pricing:
    Free tier available
    $5/month for the premium plan

I’ve also set up a discount code for you guys: EARLYBIRD66. It gives you 66% off the premium plan.

So LESS than $10? Yeah, less than $2 with the discount code above!!

Feel free to check it out at www.QuickDemo.co. Let me know what you think!

    Thanks

Hey guys I'm building a study app for busy students to help them study efficiently by allowing them to upload their course syllabus and setting their available times and getting pop quizzes about the course materials they are learning, I'm in the beta phase right now and would love to get some feedback from anyone interested! here's the website: https://pop-qi-z-landing.vercel.app/

I'm trying a token based model on CalendarCompanion.io - it makes it easier to interact with google calendar, and by dogfooding it pretty heavily I'm convinced it has value though probably not enough to run with a subscription based model.
So I'm using a token based business model, currently $10 for 150 - which should last the casual user a couple of months imo.
Also means I can offer free tokens to new users to allow them to try it without the heavy cost of freemium (especially with Open AI assistant API prices!).

BudgetPRO (.xyz) is a minimalist budget app to simplify tracking your monthly expenses. Our focus is to deliver a simple easy-to-use UI so you can see how much you spent, saved and how much is left on your wallet.

The goal of the app is to make security assessors more efficient, improve collaboration, and reduce much of the overhead of performing assessments. We are fully open source so you can download and use everything for free if you want to self-host. We offer free hosting for single-user tier which is ideal for a small shop or consultant.

You can find it by searching for factionsecurity.

It's an AI girlfriend service, which is completely uncensored, so compared to other AI girlfriend services you are not restricted to dive NSFW topics. She can even send you voice messages and pictures of her! You can also send voice messages and pictures your self and she will understand you just fine.To get started, you just need a Telegram account. I offer one-time purchases starting at 2$ and a subscription for 9.99$.

We're pre-launch so maybe this is premature? But with Gas Cents (OCR + Data powered gas log app) the goal is to ultimately save users money on gas so we're aiming to charge $3-5 per month.

Would love to know if people think that's an appropriate price.

    🚀 Hey Daniel!

We charge monthy per user between 2-3 Dollars.

I'm Benji, co-founder of Bondr, and I'm beyond excited to share our brainchild with you. Remote work is amazing, but let's be real – my friends and I shared one common challenge: the struggle to maintain those team bonds and break down communication barriers.

That's why we created Bondr – a solution born out of our own experiences. We know the frustration of feeling like your team is more like distant acquaintances than the close-knit crew we wished for.

Imagine personalized 1-on-1 meetings seamlessly embedded into Teams or Slack, transforming virtual interactions into meaningful connections.

    How it works:
🔸 Bondr matches your team members for regular 1-on-1 meetings.
🔸 Each meeting is enriched with tailored questions for deeper connections, feedback, and innovation.
🔸 Bondr anonymously summarizes creative ideas and constructive feedback, which will be compiled for each team.

We invite you to join us on this journey to redefine remote work. Let's turn every interaction into a step towards a more connected, vibrant team. Your feedback means the world to us, so fire away with your thoughts and let's make remote work an experience we all look forward to!

    Cheers!

Interesting idea! Not so hot on the touchy feely questions part - Have you thought about swapping it out for an assignment/games? I have a far easier time talking and getting to know someone when we're both working on something together, could gamify it so it becomes an ongoing intra-team/company competition?

We are building a super debugger that brings the capabilities of a traditional debugger, i.e. analyzing data in arbitrary variables, for your applications running in production - without having to redeploy them or without the overheads associated with a traditional debugger.

You can use this to understand code flow, debug those tricky production incidents or save on logging costs with this magical ability to add log statements on the fly.

It's a simple IDE plugin so you don't even have to move to a new platform to wield all this magic.
We are charging $0 at the moment. Feel free to try us out here: https://docs.ctrlb.ai/getting-started-in-2-minutes

Reach out to me at [email protected] for any questions.

I created StockBites, a personalized newsletter where users can choose their favorite stocks and receive daily emails with relevant news about those stocks. Right now, I'm not charging anything since I just launched a week ago, and I don't plan to charge in the near future. I'm curious if anyone has experience with pricing newsletters. When does it make sense to start charging for such a service? What scenarios or features would justify to charge anything?

Hi I'm a developer from the UK that has been out of work for 6 months. I've mainly gone with creating games but have built a couple of websites and released a couple of books (the later being my most finacially successful)

With mobile games being so difficult to make money off. I decided to direct my attention towards Steam and the PC gaming market. Possibly Endless Golf is my first game for the platform and should provide 50+ years of gameplay so at under 4 dollars I think I've priced it correctly but let me know what you think.

I can't post links yet so you would have to go to the Steam website and search for Possibly Endless Golf (or find the link on my profile page)

Hi Daniel, to quickly introduce myself I am Adam and I am a web designer based in Manchester, UK🇬🇧 - When I got 'bored' with no big project to stick my teeth into, I built Moonsand.

Moonsand is a flight and hotel price comparison tool and we charge literally $/£0. Just hop on the site, enter your search criteria and we display all the results in one list with the option to sort and filter.

Our how we work page has a little more detail bu essentially he process is 4 simple steps:
    🧠 Input your criteria
    👆Click Search
    🧘🏽 Sit Peacefully
✌️ Choose your deal & save your money.

Hppy to answer any questions any other hackers may have about the tool, the process, the build etc.

    Speak soon. Thanks, Adam.

I'm Rajesh Gajera, building an AI-powered tool Pics Enhancer where users can enhance and improve their photo quality automatically for free.

Currently, I am not taking any kind of charges, all it goes for free but I decided to upgrade in the future with more exciting and amazing tools.

    How it works👇

1️⃣ Just visit our site https://picsenhancer.com/
2️⃣ Upload your blurry and old photo
3️⃣ Wait for a few seconds and your photo will be clear, sharper, and high-resolution

My other competitors are providing this kind of service at a higher cost and also adding a watermark but I'm not following this trick.

Try it out once and share your feedback!

    Hey guys :)

I'm Gal and I'm building SocialBuddy. It finds relevant YouTube influencers & writes personalized outreach messages for you.

    What I'm trying to solve👇

Searching for influencers and their verified contact info takes a lot of time, usually at least a few days. And without proper research, you're usually ghosted.

I'm building a tool that does all that for you in a few minutes 👉 SocialBuddy. io finds YouTubers for you, researches their content, topic, videos, gives you real verified contact info and prepares personalized messages based on that to break through the ice. All you need to do is hit send.

    How it works👇

1️⃣ Paste your landing page URL
2️⃣ Pick a category that fits your product
3️⃣ Get verified emails & send your messages

You get 10 emails + 10 messages in each category for free, but I'm also charging $10 lifetime deals to unlock everything. You get access to 160+ contacts, all categories, 125+ verified emails and 160+ personalized messages. I'm adding export .csv and creator analytics soon too.

    What do you think?

Working on a project called Email emu. The preorder site is live. I can’t post links just yet.

This is a place where users can go reference emails and their code, from industry leading companies.

I’m not sure if charging 9 -10 dollars a month makes more sense or giving it away for free and doing ads makes more sense.

I'm working on my first indie project - PodcastGPT. It is an AI-powered tool that helps identify relevant podcast sections from the supported list of podcasts and constructs answers to user questions. Right now PodcastGPT supports my favourite podcast - HubermanLab podcast.

The idea for the app came from my own experience as I was trying to optimize my time. I always found myself wasting time trying to find an answer to one question in a three-hour-long episode.

The tool I've built lets me ask the question, get an answer in a minute, and also get a list of episode chapters I should review if I want to learn more.

    I think it's a great tool but:

    • I don't charge ANYTHING for it
    • I will share how I built it on my social media (YT, Twitter)

(link to the app is in my Twitter bio, Olearningcurve)

Our platform offers both real-time and historical market data, including prices, trades, volumes, order books, and more from numerous exchanges. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that CoinAPI becomes your ultimate resource for all your cryptocurrency data requirements.

As for pricing, we have several tiers depending on the usage and level of access required, but we are offering free API keys to anyone here who'd like to test our services extensively

Looks quite cool. I think it depends on who you're targeting. B2C might be tough, however if you are charging chat-owners / moderators, i think they'd be willing to pay for a service like this. Analytics into what is being discussed within the channel could also be interesting.

      1. 1

well but now we're targeting B2C customers tho. Btw thanks a lot for your feedback

Originally we wanted to just be a free fun app but we now have a premium tier at 3.99 a month to help offset our costs (mostly of the AI API). Well, we here at Shelf (@ShelfQR on Twitter) like to think of ourselves as the Robin Hood of asset tracking - stealing from the overpriced and giving back to the people! But in all seriousness, we offer a personalized service for custom asset stickers at a fair price. And as for whether we should be charging more...let's just say our bank account hopes not! 😂

On a more serious note, we believe in providing value to our customers at a reasonable price. We want to make sure that everyone has access to high-quality asset tracking solutions, regardless of their budget. So if you're in need of custom asset stickers, don't hesitate to reach out to us for a quote!

Also, we have a super nice asset tracking/management web app available to you all on: www.shelf.nu

And, our code is open source: https://github.com/Shelf-nu

I really liked the idea of keeping a personal journal/ diary where I can write down my basically anything I wanted. Of course I looked for the app, however most if not all of them are using a third party servers to store the data.

That is why I built an Memoiry - Diary, Mood Tracker app.

    • The use of Cloud Kit and Core Data means that only you can access your information. No one else can. If access to iCloud account is lost the data cannot be recovered
    • No third-party analytics or any "track user" analytics for that matter, means as a dev I don't know what, when or how the user is using the app
    • All the app's logs are stored locally on the device unless sent to help with troubleshooting

Plus the app has other nice collection features as well (and more to come):

    • Mood tracker: Create, customize & pick your mood anytime you like to track & understand your emotional state and improve your mental well-being
    • Write about your day: Enhance your daily journal entries with visual context. Our app allows you to add photos to your entries and remember every detail
    • Goals: Create & customize new goals and challenge yourself everyday to become the better version of yourself
    • Charts and stats: Stay in tune with your emotions and mental health. Use the Charts and Stats to analyze your moods over time and gain valuable insights and self-reflect on what you did & achieved
    • Free sync: sync your data to multiple devices, your data is always with you

Premium plan removes limits on certain features. Current price for Memoiry Premium is

    • $1.99 USD per month
    • $19.99 USD per year

Please give it a try and send me a feedback. I want all of it to keep make the app better.

    1. 1

I'd probably pay more for those features. Say 9.99 per month.

  74. 1

I guess we should split in B2B and B2C products.
For me it's B2C: a WhatsApp bot leveraging OpenAI's Whisper API to turn voice messages into text and summarise them. Adopted the free trial (3min of transcriptions), then user has choice of prepaid packages and subs plans, both regulated by the minute of transcription (from $4 to $16). Still trying / iterating on the price model since I launched the Product two days ago, and built it in 2 weeks 😂
Fancy to read your thoughts about it ✌️ https://whisperize.me

Pricing below 5 dollars per month feels good for me :)

We have free packages, in addition to the free package, the cheapest package costs only $9. We are an anti-detection browser, with the opening of multiple accounts, secure management of multiple accounts, user account rights management these features (for example, the same employee operating the account, will only allow different functions, colleagues responsible for the content can only see the content module, while none of them are allowed to access the account password, manipulated by the boss). Our website is https://www.morelogin.com

Our networking platform for sales professionals is free. We hope to make it freemium in the future. Feel free to try it out if you're in sales: app.saleshookup.com

Pricing is still hidden, the landing only accepts emails right now: chaibar.ai

However, I've been testing a subscription of $5/mo to allow accessing chatGPT from your mac, using a Spotlight-like popup window.

Is that too much? Too little? Probably will add a more expensive tier that allows you to create DALL-E images as well from the same input field, just asking for it!

  79. 1

I know I should be charging more, currently charging nothing.

👋🏼 - I actually just launched an app to help developers and devop folks manage their DigitalOcean resources (droplets, apps, dbs, domains, etc).

    What is does
The DO interface on mobile is hot garbage and although I don't foresee someone creating a droplet or an app from their phones, I do see the need to monitor things and take some smaller actions like a reboot, power cycle, read through some logs, or scale up/down.

Just got approved on the AppStore yesterday. Will be working on an Android version once most of the bugs are fixed.

For now, it will be free, but I would like to charge for it. What would you pay for an app like this? $3.99 one time? Monthly/yearly subscription? Curious to know your thoughts.

We are offering a free tier & $10/plan for Annual subscriptions. Our product is https://vizii.com and we integrate with Xero & Quickbooks Online accounting systems (so far) to fetch expenses, bills, and suppliers data to share it back with Staff (head of departments in most cases), similar to ERP systems scaling functionality but way more affordable :) and 1 click integration for instant implementation!

Be Inclusive is a web app that helps you define, track, and share digital accessibility audits. We simplify the admin part of the process so manual auditing is easier to manage and share with teammates & clients.

Been working on it for a few years now, there's a tiered pricing model and the two lower tiers are under $10. When I set the pricing it was really important to me to make sure it could remain affordable for the freelancers and agencies out there that are trying to do right by their clients and the users of the digital products they're building. Accessibility is really important, and I hope Be Inclusive makes that process just a bit easier for folks.

At https://transcodely.app, we charge 0.01 € / minute of video.

    Should we charge more ?

Currently its free, as I don't know how to monetize it just yet. Sooo <$10 :D
There are financial ratios for stocks, but not for cryptos. Hence I build a website with ratios for crypto to indicate if a coin is scummy or not. These ratios I then bundle into one rating score. The result is: http://bestcryptos.io/

Being a finance major I love your idea/site! Could you do email address capture to build an email list to monetize?

      1. 1

Hey Chelsey, thanks for your reply. Yes, adding a newsletter to capture emails is a great idea indeed! Much appreciated

  101. 1

This is actually a great post! I've been guilty of it myself in the past. I think people are afraid to charge what they're worth in the beginning, but then they end up overcompensating and overcharging. It's a hard balance to find, but it's important to price your services correctly from the start!

I charge $9.99/mo for DreamzAR App for Landscape Design. It's targeted at Homeowners (Monthly Subscription) and small/medium landscape contractors (Annual Subscription).

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/dreamzar/id1588977278 (It used to be $7.99 but raised the prices as I had not done it despite adding more features in a few months).

    Appreciate the review/comments.

    1. 1

I crazily enough used to own a residential landscaping installation company. I tried a couple of different apps that were really hard to use and didn't produce stellar results. I did not download your app, but I did take a quick peek at the landing page. If it works well, I think you could charge lots more because even if a contractor wins one bid using your tool to visualize results for the customer they'll be making thousands of dollars.

    Would love feedback on https://scoreboardlabs.com/

Scoreboard Labs started as a way for a bunch of friends to track their scores while distributed across a golf course. What started as a joke and a way to talk smack while the round was in progress has becomes something that we want to share with the world. We created our leaderboard functionality to service two markets:

    1. Amateur Groups: Think of a bunch of friends who want to add an extra bit of pizzazz to those summer golf tournaments. Our leaderboards are easy to set up and update as the round progresses. Best off all you can do it for FREE!

    2. All Types of Businesses: While primarily aiming at golf courses to allow them provide an additional feature to sell to large groups of golfers when they book a round or tournament, we also provide a points based leaderboard where corporate teams can track in house competitions for a variety of reasons.
We are just starting our SaaS journey and would love any type of feedback on the product, business model or anything else you may see

My project is Basin. We've been charging $8 for our standard plan and $24 for the last 2 years. Prior to that it was $5 and $15 respectively.

Basin is a plug-and-play form backend that lets you have complete control of the frontend form experience while automating common processes like collecting and validating submissions, filtering spam, storage data, and triggering workflow automations that save you time.

Increasing pricing is on our radar. Competitor products are priced a lot higher than we are, so maybe that's an indicator that we need to adjust?

  123. 1

Keytunity has a free tier, then the next tier is $8, with a higher tier of $20.

I actually deliberately chose the $8 to be clearly under $10. We're just starting out so no data and I guess these are low to gauge interest.

I am the founder and creator of the https://dtekt.io tool which is meant to be a simple-to-use competition for e.g. Solarwinds Pingdom. My selling point is the ease of use. I try to build it so that you don't need to be technical to configure it and receive alerts when something goes wrong with your website.

My product HelloConsent. Its a cookie consent management platform. With a 4-tier pricing model

    1. 1

It's an interesting tool, but in it's current form it is not compliant from what I can tell. The accept/deny consent/cookies button should be equal, you can't hide it under the settings. Here's a reference https://noyb.eu/en/more-cookie-banners-go-second-wave-complaints-underway.

Pin garden costs $14 per year (so just over $1 per month), and even less now that it's in beta.

The reason is that the project is (intentionally) very bare bones, and only makes sense if used for a relatively long time. It's sort of like a silent buddy while browsing the internet: it's there when you need it, but it doesn't do anything to stand out.

What is it about? It's a bookmarking service designed for minimalists. You can share "folders" (called spaces), annotate links and save them directly from the address bar.

    1. 1

Nice minimal approach! I'd like to see some screenshots of the actual service's UI on the landing page before trying, though.

      1. 1

You're right. I too always look with a bit of suspicion at those who don't show anything from the landing page.

        Thanks for the advice!

  157. 1

I'm building Interact List and it's currently free (will always be free). I have plans to build really cool features that will incentivize paid tiers but that's way down the road map.

  158. 1

Well, I am not charging anything as well. The tool 've created is called Trading212 Tracker, https://trading212tracker.co.uk
This was created to help me track my dividends, sort them and see how much I am earning monthly, alas Trading212 (the platform I use to invest) does not have this feature.
I have tried other platforms but I had to change my account export file (which is a CSV file) and use the tools. It gets a bit boring, I must say. Once I got to a point, published this so other can use and give me feedback on it. But, I guess I need a proper landing page with a bit more imagery and explanations :)

I intend to push the tool further, there are integrations already on its way but let's see.

Thank you. I fixed the text

  160. 1

    Great post!

I have really been doubting the price. I prefer to make it as available as possible, so keeping the price low.

I have even been thinking of making it free of charge or just 1$ and then allowing people to pay whatever they want for it.

But others tell me they'll deem it to be more valuable if the price is higher.

    I'm not sure...

Here is a quick summary of my product:

I am also charging nothing right now and trying to focus on user acquisition. I also don't really know how much to charge for what specifically as my project is more of consumer-oriented which I feel like is harder to monetize.

The project is Calenday, a real-time collaborative calendar, basically like Google Docs but for calendars for travel and such.

      1. 1

        I know 😣 but I'm currently focusing
on only getting landing page websites built with Nextjs or Gatsby.

Reason why it's really low is cause the dollar is much more stronger compared to my country's currency, so it's an ok-ish price when converted to Ethiopian Birr

        1. 1

If you're a competent React dev, you should be charging WAY more than $7/hr. Even if you're in Ethiopia!

I have a $9/month plan for PanaKit. Initially I didn’t have it but I thought about fellow indie hackers that may want to build a blog for their product but don’t have a big budget. Still waiting to see if it will bite me in the ass. You probably should not buy it lol.

I charge between $2.5 to $9 based on the user's location to make the product affordable for everyone 😀

This looks interested! Just curious as to how you decide how to price by location? Is it by looking at price baskets for each region and converting to USD?

      1. 1

It is based on the purchasing power of each country.

    It's $3/month.

Hey @ducmai would be great to see a landing page! It immediately asked me for my google and I got nervous and dropped off

thanks for the tips. I plan to do it after testing functions with several users. You are absolutely right that looking at the dead simple login page then people might have no ideas what is this about :)

I've noticed a clear correlation - the less someone pays, the more support issues they cause.

With my established SaaS, we originally launched with a $19/mo plan, but now the cheapest option is $49/mo. There's no going back - less churn and less support tickets.

My new app Flamingo - a leave management Slack app for remote teams - is currently completely free.

It's still pre-revenue, and this is my first time experimenting with freemium.

I have found the same in the B2B software company I work for.

Seems like a pretty important observation! You'll have to let us know how freemium shakes out.

great post @dking . For me, https://classtra.org is what I'm working on. We used to have traditional tier-based pricing. We now moved to usage-based pricing. There's a $0 plan but with a commission, and a paid plan with no commission. Would love to get feedback.

Thanks Ahmed! Your website looks awesome.

This seems like a really valuable service. If someone actually ran their entire business through your app, managed classes, instructors, students, dashboards... then $14.99 seems impossibly cheap. I have no idea what your competitors are charging, but I would think that $50-$100/month is reasonable for software like this especially if you're going to be selling a high level of customer support, which you are doing in your testimonials.

Maybe that's too high, but I think it would be worth experimenting some more. 🤷🏻‍♂️ What do you think?

      1. 1

Hey, @brandonHacker thanks for the reply. $14.99 is per admin user, so if you have more users it goes up. We are still experimenting with the pricing. But this price model really seems to be hitting the right points with our customers.

In a very surprising turn of events, when the pricing was lower, the conversions were also lower, so we might actually raise it more in the future. I agree with your assessment. 🙏

Oh no, I don’t think I charge more than $10 for anything! Well, I’m working in GBP so it’s borderline…

I’m selling enough to pay my bills but I need to figure out how to go up an order of magnitude…

For me this site doesn't work
