Free credits are an interesting move because they remove one of the biggest barriers for new users: "Is this worth my time?"
The tricky part is what happens after the signup. A credit can get someone through the door, but the first few minutes decide whether they understand the value or just use up the credits and disappear.
The best onboarding flows usually help users reach that "aha" moment before they even think about what they're spending.
I'd pay close attention to what new users do with that first credit — the actions they take will probably tell you more about your product's real value than any survey.
