Shipped a Notion template as a side lead-gen channel — here's what happened in 5 days

Building Postessia (AI tool that writes LinkedIn content in your actual voice, not generic AI-slop).
Alongside it, I built and published a free-ish agency ops template — "Agency Command Center: Client & CRM OS" — on the Notion Marketplace on Aug 1.

Numbers so far (small, but real):
→ 4 template views
→ 4 downloads
→ 100% view-to-download conversion (small sample, but I'll take it)
→ Postessia backlinks baked into 4 sections of the template

Why I did this: agency owners are Postessia's exact ICP. Instead of cold-pitching them, I gave them something useful first (a CRM/ops system) with soft mentions of Postessia where it's contextually relevant — proposal writing, client content, personal brand posts.

What I learned:

→ Marketplace templates convert fast if the niche is tight (I didn't go generic "productivity template," I went specific: agency ops)
→ Passive distribution > another outreach DM
→ Small numbers still validate the funnel shape before I scale it

What's next: watching if any of these downloads turn into actual Postessia signup, not just vanity views.

Would love feedback from anyone who's tried marketplace templates as a B2B lead-gen wedge — did it hold up past the first week for you?

The tight niche angle is the key insight here. 'Agency ops' converts better than 'productivity' because the person downloading already knows they need it. Curious if the Postessia mentions feel natural or if users notice the soft pitch.

    1. 1

Good question. I placed them in 4 spots, but only where the context already implies a content-writing bottleneck — not randomly sprinkled:
      → Growth & Sales section (drafting proposals/outreach)
→ Production & Delivery section (client LinkedIn content)
→ Internal Team & Strategy section (agency's own authority content)
→ One in the intro block
Each mention is 1 line, contextual to what that section already does — not a banner ad. No idea if that reads as "natural" from a first-time downloader's eyes though — that's honestly the part I can't self-judge. If you (or anyone) grab the template, I'd genuinely want to know if you skimmed past the Postessia lines or actually clocked them as a pitch.
