Shipping DocSnap: offline OCR and summaries for documents, photos, and screenshots

I finally shipped the first version of DocSnap, a tiny iOS app to capture important info from documents, photos, and screenshots — all processed entirely on your device.

The problem for me was simple: important stuff was everywhere. Receipts and invoices in email, contracts as PDFs, boarding passes as screenshots, class notes and forms as quick photos. When I needed one detail, I had to dig through multiple apps and re-read everything.

With DocSnap, I just drop everything into one place:

• scan paper documents with the camera

• import PDFs, photos, and screenshots

• run OCR and summarization offline on my iPhone or iPad

• save a short summary and key details I can skim later

Everything happens locally, so nothing gets sent to a cloud AI and there’s no account to create. It feels more like a private “My Documents” inbox on your phone than a big document system.

Right now I’m still figuring out what matters most: better summaries, smarter search, tags and filters, or tighter integrations with things like Files / Notes / task managers.
