Should I also sell on amazon?

I'm writing my first eBook about micro-entrepreneurship that's called Start With A Side-Project.

So far I'm only offering it on Gumroad, I actively promote it since I'm a first-time author so I don't expect to be recommended by Gumroad.

How does the discoverability on Amazon works? Will I have to put efforts promoting it there as well? I might as well just focus on promoting my Gumroad page instead of promoting two links.

Are you planning to sell more than one ebook? Why not creating a Shopify page? Amazon would help if you do ads on their platform. Shopify with facebook promotion would be a good option. It would be cheaper too.

      No planning regarding other ebooks.
Shopify is an overkill in this case. I can just share around my product page link.
If I will sell on Amazon I could either create a static landing page or just share two links.

There is some discovery without any promotion. It really depends how crowded the offers are compared to the demand.

With no promotion work, expect a few sales per months via organic search from random readers. If your book is exceptional, expect word of months to work for you. I would say if you took the time to author a book, putting it on amazon is worth the time spent (an hour or two to go through the publishing steps).

Thanks for the input Jean, I would definitely consider putting it on Amazon.
For now, to keep things simple and to concentrate on writing the book I would focus on promoting the Gumroad page! Definitely will keep you advice in mind.

Throwing it on Amazon won't sell the book. You will have to put some effort in via promotion, ads, etc. It's not too labor-intensive, but it's necessary work to show up in the store.

      Thanks for the input @Betilfan
It also means that if I sell in 2 channels I will either have to create a landing page to list all the buying options or promote 2 links.
