Last night I had a sign-up from an account with the domain 163.com. I just have an email capture at the moment so I don't know anything else about them but the name before the domain seems like a throwaway account.
It turns out 163 is a massive email provider in China which people do use for throwaway accounts but I wanted to know of it's safe sending the welcome email (which I'm doing personally at the moment.) I don't want my email address to be on a DB somewhere for spam.
We're using cleantalk to filter out spam signups, before we had about 15-30 spam signups per day. Didn't want to use captcha to filter out spam signups, right now we still have 1 or 2 spam signups a day but much easier to handle.
Thanks, I'll take a look at it. I have a honeypot field which is catching spam but wasn't sure since this one came through, will look into other services.
The same thing happened to me. My app got so many signups with email 163.com that turn out it just spam. I just delete it. :)
