For a client I just spent the week reviewing companies that focus on generating leads with lead magnets i.e. downloads for eBooks, Guides, Reports etc. Here's the companies I've reviewed so far: https://miniboard.io/b/f9mecbnn5og5sSBdSY5K
For my ventures I just focus on PPC, SEO & content but not gated lead magnet type content like eBooks.
Should I be trying lead magnets? Have any of you actually made them work?
I guess my main concern is spending a heap of time on something that may not be relevant to an early stage bootstrapped venture. Everything I read about the topic seems to focus on companies with a lot more resources than I have.
You can try them. Do something that doesn't take much time to create.
But for the love of God, don't make another PDF with a bunch of info.
Those usually end up in people's hard drives. (Not collecting dust because they can't lol)
That made me laugh out loud :) Especially after I just spent a week basically downloading PDFs.
Ahhh yeah. I've been guilty about many more times than I can count.
I don't like lead magnets so I don't do them.
I did built https://saaspages.xyz/ which drives good traffic to https://versoly.com a website builder that SaaS companies can use to build their marketing site.
I was impressed by SaaSPages and bookmarked. This is a better way to add value creation and drive traffic to the main product. I personally advocate to offer free tools to the community in spite of ebooks like stuff.
Love that example @volkandkaya. Free tools like this do seem a million times more useful than your typical lead magnet stuff.
