Should I buy advertising for a free service?

I would like to get the word out on my linkinbio tool https://Bigger.Bio

Its a free service. Would I be crazy to buy advertising to promote a free service like BiggerBio?

If not, does anyone anyone know of a cheap place I could advertise on or products I could sponsor to drive traffic to BiggerBio ?

Hi, it looks like you have some problems with your certificate on your website.

I am building free service too, and getting initial traction is really hard.

Without any quality backlinks to your site, it won't even be in the first 50 results on google. So getting organic traffic is very hard. And it can stay like that for a long time till some magic event happens.

Paying for ads is in my opinion wasting of money (if the service is free). Maybe trying paying for some PR articles could be a better option from an SEO perspective. But google doesn't like paid backlinks either.

I spend some time watching ahrefs youtube channel, and now I am focusing on getting traffic from quora, Reddit, facebook or other search engines. And also I am trying to find some traffic from content marketing (writing blogs on low-competition keywords) but I am not getting any significant numbers yet.

hope that you will get better luck :)

Good point - fix the cert problem first and then decide - google search is going to deprioritize the OP in search rankings because they don't have SSL working.

I am handling a few products and writing to 20,000 subscribers at Micro SaaS Ideas

It doens't really make sense to advertise such a free product. But can you give more context? Do you want to eventually charge and get more paying customers?

Also, I am getting a SSL error on the page.

Hey @upenv how do you choose the ideas for Micro SaaS Ideas? Can I propose to you a SaaS to appear there?

Btw, I just subscribed. Can't wait to receive it 😄

Personally, what I would do is that if I am planning to monetize it in the future then I would work on getting traction through organic means and boost what works with paid ads. The keyword in here is "Boost". So, I would put in all of my efforts in getting traffic and refining my approach through testing and when one of them clicks, then I throw in money into the mix to accelerate my efforts.

I’ve worked with lots of brands that ask the same question. Most of them startups. Advertising (especially online) can be a good way to maximise your organic reach (if your messaging sticks in peoples minds). This is always a long-term approach, but there are pros and cons for doing so. Ultimately, you’ll need to decide if you can rely on word of mouth/ referral alone to substantiate your growth plan. If the answer is no, then perhaps consider trade-offs like guest posting on blogs etc if you don’t want to spend your hard earned cash.

Well it depends on your goals. Understand how users interact with your website? Yes. Get profit, not loss? No. I think you see what I'm saying

Share it free on createxdigital.com for other founders to test it out for you. If its good. They will share the word. Let word of mouth work for you.
