I'm looking into showing local currencies for the digital product we sell. Not the true localized pricing (e.g. different amounts in different regions), but just differing the currency between $, € etc (we currently only display it in $).
Googled a bit, but couldn't find any real world data on how this affects C1.
If you had some experience in this, I would really appreciate to hear your story.
You should display prices on dollars or local currency. There's been a few startups that measured having prices not-on-dollars causes major friction for Americans. I imagine having prices on an unknown currency causes major friction for any person, it just happens that Americans tend to only known dollars and everybody else in the world tends to know their own currency and dollars and sometimes a few more.
I live in the UK and I'm happy to see prices in dollars, euros or pounds. Other currencies not so much because I need to go do the math and there's risk of fluctuation.
The second problem you have is: do you just express the price in another currency or do you establish the price in another currency. The latter means that as that currency fluctuates, so does your revenue. Eventually, if you grow enough, that's a fact of life, because most companies don't like signing up for services in another currency.
If you are a tiny startup, like most here in IH, you can just display prices in dollars and move on to creating value in other ways and come back when you get some push back. I'm UK based and I would still just publish prices in dollars in call it a day.
