Should I first make a MVP or register an apt domain ?
Hey,
This is can be a too silly question for this community, help me with how can I improve asking questions else please excuse.
So the situation is somewhat like, I have always been wondering about making a product at some point of time in my life.
Now I have got an idea, I check and found out that a very apt domain name is available currently. But until now I only have an idea in my mind. Not validated or started working.
So the doubt is should I register domain [not doing which may leads to me losing that, if someone else takes that] or should I first validate my idea by making an MVP or something like that ?
It'll be an end-to-end bootstrapped venture so domain cost is also considerable.
Any thoughts, most welcomed.

Domains are low enough cost (usually) I would just buy it and free your mind to worry about the many other things you got to do.

First thing: Be careful where you search for your domain. Sometimes the Domain providers "steal" the domain and then are offering it to you for a higher price. I trust Namecheap with this and they have good recommendations everywhere.
If you are not sure about buying the domain, you can always Whitelabel the MVP first and show it to some customers and ask for feedback. I like to call this private MVP. No one will know the name of the tool yet and could not guess the domain except it is super niche. Afterward, you could release the public MVP but then I would suggest getting the domain. In general, you want to get the domain the latest when the app is going public (non-whitelabeled).

What I do is when I have an idea is that I codename it first. In the code, I use the codename but its configurable so that I can change it later. If the product reaches MVP, I think about an apt domain name and buy it. I will then update the codename with the real product name.

I would generally worry about the domain after you've built your MVP.
It's easy to get lost in picking a brand name and domain when you could be building your app in my experience!
Yah! Completely make sense. On the other side my thoughts are like, owing a domain will make me feel a little accountable and pushes me a little (because I'll be paying for that!). Anyways your point is valid! Thanks a lot for replying.

If you have a good name, domains are cheap enough. I'll think about the project regularly, allowing me to come up with some names. When I reach a point of setting the idea in motion, I'll find a domain before continuing.
