Hey there,
I soft launched RemoteFR last Monday.
It's a premium newsletter targeted to French developers that are looking for full remote jobs.
It's obviously super niche, and only a very few part of the Product Hunt audience are potential customers for me.
But, launching can bring me some visibility (and a few back links).
Should I do it? Or is it a waste of time?
Did you do something similar in the past? How was it?
I work at Product Hunt and I would say go for it! I will say newsletters seldom get featured, but nothing to lose at the end of the day. Check out the launch guide: https://www.producthunt.com/launch
Bonne chance!
Is it worth launching if I don't have an audience to go upvote it on my behalf?
Thanks for sharing @rosgoo.
Our biggest mistake was not following this launch guide. So in a way we threw away our launch.
Thanks for your help ๐
Absolutely. I'm a solo founder who launched a very niche macOS app and posted it on Product Hunt. It reached the top 10 of the day I submitted it and even got a custom shout-out on their newsletter. It's a great way to get it visible to a wide audience, but you have to get it right on the first try as Product Hunt doesn't usually let you re-submit the same product.
Are your customers in ProductHunt?
1% of the traffic of PH seems to be French.
As I targeting devs, I guess a good part of this 1% can be my potential customers
There you go!
Fais-le c'est tout (Google translated for Just do it) ๐
Good translation :D
Yes you should definitely launch on product hunt! There are many guides online which would help ensure that you get as much exposure as possible on the day of launch. Just remember to plan every single aspect of launch, from reaching out to your existing users to getting a hunter help you launch your product! You should definitely try it out :)
Only launch on PH if you have already an audience of people that you can DM and that will upvote you. The first time I launched the WBE Space I had no audience and only got 5 upvotes.
It was a waste of time...
The second time though, I had already a twitter audience and got 5th product of the day!
Just do it.
At most, it doesn't work and you haven't wasted so much time.
But if it goes, you'll gain visibility in no time.
If you do it, make sure you post it in the morning PDT time.
I was an idiot and posted @ 10pm.
I thought it was just like Reddit where if you get upvoted, you just go to the top.
So basically my users/customers upvoted my page for no reason, because soon enough it was on yesterday's page.
Yes. But with the suggestion that you should wait a little bit before you do. This way, you can help direct your customers to your listing to help with your voting & visibility.
Yes, I will wait a bit for sure
I started a new niche job board for developers in Montreal (https://www.montrealdeveloperjobs.com), and I had the same question about launching on PH ^^
If you go for it, Iโll keep an eye on how it works for you to help me decide ;)
Nah, you first :D
I will say totally YES!! Make sure you have clear expectations. If you do it lean, without any hunter from the PH community, maybe it won't be the best results ever, but you still have a chance of big visibility. They are plenty of checklists around here, so make sure you know what it takes to try to have big success there.
Definitely! Go for it!
Go for it. Visibility is visibility.
I don't have a tonne of experience with PH launches/anything as niche as what you're working on, but once you follow the PH launch guides, you can keep it pretty low lift!
I recently had a great experience in launching on PH and gained a few customers from it, but what I'm working on is quite broad in market/is applicable to a lot of PH folks!
Best of luck and hope you succeed ๐
I don't know if it's allowed to reply to a post in a different language than English so I'll just do it using the least amount of French as I can.
I am aware it's not really what your post is about but I checked out your website and one (negative) thing that caught my attention is that you're switching between tutoiement and vouvoiement (Trouve un job VS inscrivez vous). I think it clashes, especially because you seem to go for tutoiement at first but switch entirely to vouvoiement once you scroll down... And vouvoiement seems to fit better, especially for a paid subscription, in my opinion.
That said, I wish you all the best for this project. I'm not a dev so I wouldn't have any use for it but I think it is a cool initiative!
Merci Emile, I'll fix this!
Congratulations. Go for it. All the best.
