Hi there IH!
So I recently launched Wordblot (https://beta.wordblot.ai) in a small beta and have about 70 users so far. The people that use it like it, but they're all free (beta, right??). I talked to some investors, and they bring up a good point: how will you make money?
To that end, I'm considering pivoting to focus on content marketers. Currently, Wordblot is for ANY long-form text writing, whereas content marketers need slightly different tooling. The AI-powered writing is a huge part of it and a unique value proposition, but I'll need to add some more features.
Should I pivot or stick with general purpose writing?
Thanks for any insight =)
I would talk to the 70 beta users and measure for any sign of product market fit. Measure actual usage and what value they are getting from your tool. Why did you build this tool in the first place? Often times you'll have the ideal target audience starring at you, you just have to spend a few minutes thinking and look.
Good Luck!
Looks like a great tool as-is but fair point on the money.
I’d put up a sub-page on your site listing those features and float that around the content marketing circles. Maybe even try pre-orders, do you think that’ll work? Or what if you asked your existing 70 users to pay a one-time fee for this new product and see how many convert? Just a thought.
How long usage data do you have on them?
Is the way to get the users reusable or 1off?
How many of them wrote at least 3 or even 10 things over multiple days?...
Like are they coming back after that first attempt?
What knowledge can you get on the current most active users? Can you interview them and learn something?
How long did it take you to get to 70 users? How did you get them? My initial reaction is that you’re being impulsive. Asking how you’ll make money could either be a good question or a completely awful one, especially for an early stage startup. WhatsApp sold for $22b and had $10m in revenue.
