Hi everyone, so I started Holler Away (https://holleraway.com), a platform that allows people to share deals, events, alerts or make new friends. I've not been getting any merchant sign ups, but I see a lot of post engagements on our Facebook pages. Instead, what I've observed is that people are using the app (mostly from the US) to seek companionship or find friends nearby. Should I pivot away to transform this platform to become a social app instead? Was my original idea to enable merchants to use this platform as a location-based ad platform too off the mark?
Really seeking advice from the community here.
I think you need more time before pivoting.
agree rashid!
Don't just pivot yet. I would recommend waiting until you have more users and see how they are using it. Because a social app is a different thing.
Thanks for your input neu. So far, the vast majority of my users are using it for social purposes. But maybe you're right. Its better to continue observing the user behaviours first.
Keep us updated!
What are you doing to get merchants to sign up?
Hey joheines, I'm actually reaching out using email, facebook ads and posting in fb business groups. I've even offered free feature points, but so far only 1 merchant has signed up.
My guess would be that local merchants need reaching out in person or by phone. For example, Groupon has thousands of sales people, their model wouldn't work with online marketing only.
