Should the landing page announce the finished product or just the MVP?

I'm working on an idea and currently thinking about building a landing page to capture email addresses. My questions are:

  1. Should the landing page describe only the MVP or a more complete version of the product in terms of the features?
  2. Do I need to include any legal statement on the page?

Thanks in advance.

  1. 1

In order to validate your idea the usual recommendation is to build a landing page first. Usually you have a very appealing landing page with some signup functionality to collect email addresses. Then you should measure the traffic coming to your site with some tools like e.g. Google Analytics and analyze the conversion of visitors to subscribers, i.e. the percentage of people visiting your landing page and signing up. This is a first quantitative measure if your idea is interesting for people.

    1. I would describe the complete version on your landing page, because you want to validate the interest in your final product. This final product might still be only in your head, so people who signed up may be disappointed. But this is not so tragic, since validating your idea is much more important in the early phase.

    2. This depends on the country you are coming from or where your company is operating. Usually yes, you have to include things like privacy policy, cookie policy, and so on.

    Best wishes
