Show IH: A marketplace for buying & selling online side projects for free

Hey Indie Hackers,

I just launched Whobal MVP today - a marketplace for buying and selling online businesses (side projects, saas apps, chrome extensions, etc.). It is a free platform for the founders to sell their businesses without paying any commission.

    Looks nice.

    Might add an FAQ.

How do you plan on making money?

Thank you for the checking it out. I am still not sure about making money. It depends how much attraction it gets. But I am not in favor of charging commission on successful sale.

I am planning to keep the basic listing free and charge users for optional upgrades (extra promotion, higher listing order, featured on homepage, etc.).

I wonder if there’s an opportunity to charge the buyer, here...

I am not sure but it can be interesting. How would it work? Charge an upfront fee to view listing or add a fee to listing price like BrandBucket?

All the current players in market are charging a success fee + listing fees to sellers only. No one is charging buyers.

Thanks a lot for a great feedback. I appreciate it.

My main suggestion would be to try not to copy 1kprojects or Flippa or Transferslot.

My goal is to not just copy Flippa or any other service. I was a big fan of TransferSlot and sold my 2 side projects via their platform. Unfortunately, it was acquired few months ago and now it is almost shutdown. That is when I decided to build Whobal.

At the moment, the site looks quite similar to Flippa and 1kprojects which is quite understandable because these are basic details. Few things which could be unique selling points for Whobal:

      • Escrow.com integration
      • Listing verification through DNS and HTTP (working on it)
      • Google Analytics / Stripe revenue verification (have to figure it out)
      • No commission on sale

I will reach out to you to discuss more.
