Show IH: AmqpHosting – Performant & non rate limited rabbitMQ as a service
Hi, Indie hackers.
AmqpHosting is a rabbitMQ as a service company that provides users with rabbitMQ servers(message brokers) that do not have any artificial rate limits.
I built AmqpHosting because I wasn't satisfied with the few alternatives that are on the market and I always felt that I could do better, and now I think I have.
Some of the reasons that I think - in my humble opinion - makes us awesome are:
- We do not impose any rate limits. ie no limits on; the number of messages you can send, number of connections you can have or anything else.
- All our plans come with dedicated rabbitMQ servers. We do not setup shared rabbitMQ servers(vhosts).
- Fully managed rabbitMQ servers. Just point and click to create a rabbitmq server that is tuned for production workloads.

Interesting service! Presumably you run dedicated instances on eg AWS for each customer? And how do you guarantee / maintain uptime for your customers?

The only guarantee we give is via our SLA(https://www.amqphosting.com/faq) .
Obviously, a users' server uptime is dependent on the uptime of the cloud provider that we are using.
We however have plans to launch a AmqpHosting plan that will be multi-AZ(hosted on different datacenters) and provide true high availability.
Cool! I imagine you also have pagers etc in case the service goes down & you need to intervene to get it back up?

One more question: how did you find the people to join your beta program? Did you do any marketing/advertising or were they people / companies you had prior connections with?

The people who were in our beta were a few local companies that I already knew were using rabbitMQ(from their presentations at meetups I had attended or from talking to colleguaes wrking there.)

What kind of feedback have you guys gotten since launch??

The feedback has been mostly enthusiastic. We've got a number of sign-ups and some of those have gone ahead to create rabbitMQ servers with us.
It helps, I guess, that we have a 14 day trial period. We'll see whether people will continue using the service after the 14 days are up. But everyone who participated in our beta period ended up using the service past the beta period so we expect kind of the same with the 14 day period, but there's only one way to find out.
