Hey Indiehackers,
This is a little weekend experiment. I'm curious to hear feedback from you all.
If you're like me, you've spent countless hours when trying to choose a good name for your startup / side project and struggled to find a good domain name. Often, we fallback to uncommon TLDs like .io... but I've personally felt the pain of having to carefully spell out a name and the friction that goes along with that.
BoxedName is an attempt to package up a ready-to-go name for people who want to skip this chore and focus on your startup rather than naming your startup.
Hey Phil, love the concept. Actually working on something mildly similar myself. Your no-nonsense website aesthetics are quite refreshing! Keep us updated on how it goes. Thanks for sharing!
Really cool idea! I've been / am going through the pain myself. In terms of the value that you're delivering: $2500 for an Indie Hacker / startup can be quite steep. I noticed that if I spent one day really going for it I can come up with a few good names that have the dotcom available. They won't fit all your criteria but it's a good enough vs paying $2500, but not sure if all your names are going to be priced the same.
In terms of the landing page: looks more like an article than a landing page to me. I'm not instantly engaged (while the idea is really good so this is doable) and I find it hard to find the call to action as it's in in text and at the bottom.
Nice idea, and interesting execution (is it a notion page?)
One domain a day is a good concept, especially with the email list to re-engage
Some thoughts:
Thanks for the feedback, all good points.
Not a Notion page -- just a quick little minimal bit of CSS I wrote since I couldn't find a free HTML theme I was happy enough with.
I did basically just write up the copy in Dropbox Paper and then was basically just trying to find the simplest way to put it on boxedname.com with minimal formatting/readability. Deployed via Netlify.

This is a great idea! Nice work.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the awesome feedback -- really encouraging to hear! (screenshotted you here https://twitter.com/philfreo/status/1214718408828366853)
Yes, curation is the name of the game.
I am curious about what you mean by "it just doesn't apply to anything I'm doing". Basically, I thought of this name as a very generic name (like Google or so many other company names that mean nothing "on their own") -- a blank slate to mean whatever you want. Definitely not targeting the construction/saw industry.
