Hi Indie Hackers,
I’m the founder of Muxixi Studios. While most camera apps today are racing to add AI filters and social noise, I decided to go the opposite way with TimerCamera+.
The Vision: Redefining "Professional"
My goal was to build a professional-grade tool, but I realized that true professionalism isn't about having a thousand buttons—it’s about intentionality.
I made deliberate trade-offs to strip away everything that distracts from the moment. For me, "Pro" means precision: a per-pixel centered layout, lightning-fast performance, and a core that respects the user's focus. It’s a tool for those who want to record the beauty of routine—the "quiet moments" like a bird on a branch or a blooming flower—without the complexity of traditional "pro" apps.
Design: One-Handed & Precise
When you’re out living your life—maybe holding a coffee in one hand or a child’s hand in the other—you shouldn't have to struggle with menus.
Ergonomics First: Every button is placed specifically for one-handed operation.
0.75 Visual Bias: I spent months on an algorithm to ensure that on modern 20:9 displays, the 4:3 preview is perfectly centered. Professional composition should feel natural, not offset by "gray bars."
Precision Focus (v1.3.1): I just pushed an update to fix manual tap-to-focus accuracy, ensuring that the "minimalist" experience doesn't compromise on optical clarity.
The 4.08MB Challenge
I believe a professional utility should be instant and take up almost zero space. Using deep R8 code shrinking, I’ve kept the entire APK under 4.1MB, even after adding full support for German, Italian, and Russian (8+ languages total).
The "Indie" Reality
I’m currently fighting a high uninstall rate. I suspect my "Intentional Minimalism" might be too extreme for users accustomed to feature bloat.
I’d love your expert feedback:
How do you balance "Minimalism" vs. "Perceived Value" in a professional tool?
In 2026, is a 4MB size still a valid selling point for you?

Recording the routine. Capture the life.
Love the 'Essence over Bloat' philosophy. I just finished a project in Nairobi (where internet is a bottleneck) and hand-coded an 18KB offline AI studio in Vanilla JS. It’s amazing how much faster things are when you strip away the cloud dependencies. 4MB for a camera is impressive—keep fighting the bloat!
“A 4MB professional camera app is a breath of fresh air in an era of bloatware—the minimalist focus is a great angle.Nice idea, this could be a good way to test it. There’s a competition where you can submit it — entry is $19 and winner gets a Tokyo trip.Prize pool just opened at $0 so your odds are the best right now.”
Appreciate the support! I'm keeping my schedule as minimalist as the app—focusing 100% on development and user experience for now. >
I’ll pass on the contest, but thanks again for recognizing the 4MB challenge.
Totally get that — respect the focus! 💯
Wishing you the best with the build, especially with the 4MB challenge — that’s seriously impressive.
If you ever decide to explore it later, we’d love to have you in. No pressure at all 🙂
Yep, hit 4.2MB with Video Recording included! 🎥 Challenge accepted and mostly conquered. Thanks for the encouragement! 🙂
Small wins like this are the real grind 💪 4.2MB with video is impressive
Thanks! Keeping it lean is a challenge but so satisfying. Cheers! 💪
Thanks so much! Every byte is a battle, but it’s a fun one. Appreciate the support and the zero-pressure invite—I’ll definitely keep it on my radar once this build is out in the wild! 🚀
Just pushed v1.3.1 to production. It took me a few sleepless nights to nail that focus bug, but it was worth it. Looking forward to hearing what you guys think about the minimalist approach!
