Show IH: Chatonbo is now on WordPress β€” here's what we learned from 2,000+ users

Hey IH πŸ‘‹

Quick update from the Chatonbo team: we're officially live on the WordPress marketplace today.

A bit of context β€” we've been live for a while now with 2,000+ registered users on chatonbo.com, mostly Shopify store owners and small SaaS teams using our widget for customer support and lead capture. Launching on WordPress.org is the natural next step: WordPress powers ~40% of the web, and until now our users had to paste a script tag manually. Now it's one click.

What Chatonbo does: AI chatbot that installs in 2 minutes on any WordPress/WooCommerce site. No API keys, no widget code, no training setup. Answers product questions, captures leads, recommends products β€” 24/7.

Tech stack:

  • Next.js + TypeScript frontend

  • NestJS + PostgreSQL backend

  • Single-file widget compiled with esbuild

  • Claude Haiku under the hood

A few things we learned going from 0 β†’ 2,000 users:

  • The #1 objection was never price β€” it was setup friction. Every minute of setup killed conversion. That's why we obsessed over the one-line install.

  • Shopify owners install fast but WordPress owners install more β€” they just take longer to decide. Different buying rhythm.

  • "How smart is the AI" matters less than "how quickly can I train it on my content". People care about speed to value.

The ask: I'd love honest feedback from IH folks β€” especially anyone running WordPress/WooCommerce. What would make you install (or not install) a chatbot on your site?
