Show IH: Contalist, a simple contact management application
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create a simple contact management application, inspired by some requirements for a personal relationship management app or a lightweight CRM for non-sales uses. It's still in beta, but I hope I could get more feedbacks, advices and inspiration from IH community.
Besides basic contact book features, we also built some features to help users reach their contacts, collect information and stay organized. Such as group messages, web forms, task lists, timeline. And more minor features to help individuals and small businesses get rid of the chores and inefficiency when dealing with contacts, clients or whatever.

One thing you can improve on is your messaging. Who is this product for, and why should they use it?
Your landing page and, to a lesser extent, this forum thread, both focus extensively on the features that your app comes with. Unfortunately, people don't care about features. They care about the benefits that your features provide. If you don't clearly spell out those benefits, then users have to do it themselves, and 99% of them won't take the time. They have better things to do.
Remember, your app comes at a cost. It takes time, effort, and money for someone to switch to it. So you have to make it worth their while. Your messaging and your product need to be so enticing, so desirable, that people are willing to pay those costs. That's a high bar to hit.
Do people really want "simple, efficient contact management"? I don't think so. That doesn't sound enticing to me. What people want is to…
This is just off the top of my head. I'm sure you could come up with many others if you spent a few hours or days thinking about it and talking to people.
Think about what people really want, then build a tool with features that can give them that better than anyone else can.
Thanks csallen, this is exactly the advice I need. I'm a developer, and always have a tendency to focus on things like functionalities, other than thinking like a user.

Do not use words like "easy", "simple", "efficient", they're overused and, generally and don't mean much.
For the message think about "why" instead of "how" and "what" (read about this with Simon Sinek's book).
