Show IH: Drop the bloat and get in business sooner

The most common advice I've heard is "Get early feedback" but this can be hard if you can't formulate or don't know what the core business is because your thoughts are unorganised. Your business idea becomes bloated from unnecessary features and so does your description of it.

My product is built to help you describe your business accurately (inspired by Pat Flynn, "Will it fly"). The method is quite simple: First you brainstorm, then you organise and trim for unnecessary features, and finally you write your text. You then have a small and concise text that can be used for gathering feedback. You can download the app here (free while in beta):

I would love to get feedback on this app such that I can make it better.

I am also happy to offer a 50% discount to any Indie Hacker who thinks this is something they can use to develop their business (until 1st Dec): https://getmindmaps.com/s/indiehackers/

Thanks a lot! I've built it with Electron, electron-builder, ReactJS, react-scripts, react-desktop and a lot of custom written components. This makes it easy to port to other platforms as well. While the initial ports will be for desktops, I am planning on adding support for mobile devices a bit down the line. The landing page is made with Python and Django.

I would be really happy if you try it out and it would be great with feedback :). The app will be in beta at least until December and actually the current version will first deactivate at the end of the year (however, it will upgrade automatically). Feel free to reach out directly on support@wonop.com with suggestions and/or wishes. I can't guarantee that I will implement all suggestions obviously.

Well, there has been some learning curve, but I'd say it works rather well. electron-updates is working really well and I was very happy to see the support for spaces. At this stage building & signing the app is a single command and publishing is a single command so it does not get much easier than that :) However, getting to that point was quite painful, first deciding for making "manual" build commmands, then opting for electron-forge, the reverting to initial approach and finally working out how electron-builder works. I think that the documentation is somewhat sparse for electron builder, but that aside it has all the functionality that you need.

Both electron-forge and electron-builder produces really slow load times if you just follow a standard tutorial. However, if you use electron + reactjs + manual build the load time is rather fast. The reason why I've tried so many different ways of building was simply because I wanted the simplicity in workflow from electron-builder/forge without the slow load times and it took me a while to work out how to combine the two correctly. I think the load time is about 2.5-4 seconds with builder without using react-scripts whereas I can get it down to 0.5 - 2 on my MacBook using react-scripts. I hope I can still squeeze the load time a bit more, but it is not a priority atm. Need to add more features first and mature the app slightly more :)

Finally, auto-updates works really nicely for the little I have tested them. I basically had to add two lines of code and that's it. It then took me quite a bit of time to work out what was going on in the background, but it more or less worked out of the box (again assuming that you can understand the very sparse documentation).
