Show IH: FREE self-hosted form backend!

Hey all, thought I'd share this with some folks. I wanted a cheap and efficient way to collect responses from a form. Most form backends have a tiny free tier so I thought I could build my own quick solution. Here is what I came up with: Slingshot

Slingshot is a small web application that runs a backend to form collection. It's written in Go so it's extremely efficient.

I've configured it so that you can deploy directly to Heroku's free tier and handle most of your form use cases! Simply click here to deploy directly to Heroku

All you need to configure is your sending account credentials, your receiving emails, and you are good to go. If you're using Gmail, I've included integration steps here.

Let me know what you think!

    This is so cool.

Do you think it would be useful to fill some kind of spreadsheet with responses? To do some analysis later.

I did some Go in the past. If you don't mind, I would try to add Google Sheets support to the project.

Definitely! A Google Sheets API call would be trivial to add. Make a pull request. :)
