Show IH: I helped — I will get $35 per month forever

Sometimes I'm promotional but sometimes I just love to help and I do it so much.

I helped a few people on Twitter and here on IH. Honestly speaking, I didn't expect anything. The cases were:

  • i was genuinely interested in what they do.
  • their bio/profile was interesting and I wanted to know more about them
  • i liked their project and wanted to help (feedback, issues, etc)

In each case, I didn't sell/pitch anything, I simply offered interest and my time for them. And EVERY TIME the results were unexpected.

Usually, when you pitch it is really hard to continue the conversation after 4 - 5 emails, I know this because we primarily acquire our SaaS customers by cold emailing them. It's a lead gen SaaS.

Cold DMs are hard to lead after ~ 12 messages. But here the conversation leads on itself to over 20+ messages or 10+ emails. The best part is — it revolves around each other's products and professional lives. Conversations are a gem.

Here's a different one. I simply let him know his product is mentioned on a trending post and that's it. Didn't expect anything, I don't even have anything that common to expect benefits:

I spent a minute of my time to help and I get a product that costs $35/month. In other cases, I get relationships and valuable interests on my projects out of a simple "Hi".

Is it worth it? Yes!

Again, I learned conversations are a gem. Real (i mean real!) conversations naturally have the characteristics of a cold email but it is so much more enjoyable to both ends and gives you a new experience, each time.
