Show IH: I made an app that collects funny commit messages 😂

Hey IH!

Commits.lol is a small service that collects funny commit messages from Github.

As makers, we all have our moments. Whether it be joy (seeing your app live), frustration (fixing a bug in production) or anything else!

I wanted to build something to capture that emotion, and I figured what better way to do that than by looking at commit messages!

Tell me what you think!

Nice one. I wanted to build something like that and never came up with something that made sense. You did it and it looks pretty awesome!

Yea it's got some crazy commits in there. My current favorite is "Oopsie v2" lol

This is hilarious and nice front-end. How did you make the nice animations to rotate the emojis, etc.?

      Thanks!

So I just used some CSS transforms on the emojis. On hover, I set each emoji to rotate at different angles.

Love the site design. It's really fun and unique, such a nice change from all the other cookie cutter sites you see these days. 👏👏👏

Oh my. So many "whoops remove token" commits here. I wonder if Github has any automatic detection of if you mistakenly commit your token? Because I bet there are many bots sniffing for those tokens 😄

Note: So if you commit and push your token, there's a big chance it got into wrong hands. So you should immediately invalidate the token, not just force-push-remove the commit.

Love the site though, great idea!

      Hey Thanks! Appreciate it!

Not sure that Github has that kind of auto-detect functionality for tokens though - would be a pretty handy feature!

Oh dear 😂 Don't look at our repos will you. Rich pickings I suspect.
Man I hate writing commit messages.

Blah, stuff, some things, I made changes - all perfectly acceptable!
