Show IH: Indie Hackers on Mobile (Indie Readers)
Hey everyone!
Indie Hackers largely works great on mobile web, but I’m a big fan of native reader apps (ex: for Hacker News, Reddit). They allow you to use more of your screen real-estate, build in customized layouts/themes, and leverage native functionality. I believe that a completely native experience could contribute to the growth of the community.
I’ve spent a couple hours here and there over the last week prototyping an Indie Hackers mobile app and would love your feedback. It's only on Android for now and there are a million other things wrong with this first version, but I wanted to get it out the door and see what the community thinks.
To-Dos:
- Speed up Top posts (uses a bit of scraping to get the posts URL’s, hope this isn’t a problem @csallen 😬 )
- Fix strange automatic scrolling down to the comments section on some posts
- Retrieve + display comments in a native layout
- Allow sign-in/upvoting/commenting (pro-tip: if you log in once, you'll stay signed in)

Hey Feargal! I actually built the initial prototype on React Native so the app is supported on both platforms. The issue with publishing it to the App Store was that Apple rejected it for not having enough native functionality 😅
Would love to get around to building in more features if there's enough excitement in the community though!
Oh nice! Shouldn't be a major deal. I saw this a few months ago on here, looks like they had a similar problem.
