Just released a new SaaS: https://ipregistry.co
Ipregistry is a fast, reliable IP geolocation and threat data API. The main targets are developers and companies who want to enrich IP addresses with location, company and threat data.
I would appreciate any feedback! :)

What does threat data mean in layman's terms?
Great question!
Ipregistry aggregates and maintains up-to-date a database of more than 620M malicious IP addresses, attackers, botnets, open proxies, and Tor nodes. Thanks to this database, every lookup returns a field that indicates whether or not the input IP is used for malicious activities. You may use threat data to detect and prevent frauds.
What does this do better than https://ipinfo.io/ as one example? Bot detection?
That's a great question. Here are some benefits of using Ipregistry:
Ipregistry correlates data (including geolocation, threat data and user agent parsing) from about 50 sources and keeps the service updated continuously, thus improving accuracy.
Apart from reliability, requests are served under 30ms from most popular worldwide locations! https://ipregistry.co/status
The REST API is clean, easy to use and can outputs JSON or XML.
You get 100,000 free credits on signup and then you pay only for what you use per lookup (with cards, Paypal or cryptocurrencies). No expensive plans with artificial barriers.
The service supports multiple API Keys to separate concerns.
Options are provided to restrict usage by IP addresses, origins or throttle/rate limit API keys.
More is coming. I think I will write a series of blog posts to compare Ipregistry with existing services, side by side.
Super interesting!
Do you use a tool/library/service for the /status page? It looks complete!
Thanks!
Thanks! I use updown for the status page. It is configured with a custom domain. The page is then included on Ipregistry pages with an iframe.
Thank you for sharing that info :)
Looks great! Bookmarked for future projects.
Thanks, Daniel. I would be happy to help with any use cases or integrations. Feel free to drop a line if you need help in the future.
Nice website and service.
It'd be great to see some use case examples on the home page of how one would use Ipregistry. You list them at the top (and in the docs), but (1) it's a lot of text to parse upfront when landing, (2) the use cases in the docs are a bit hidden, and (3) on the landing page, it'd be nice to have more concrete details for those use cases and why I (a web dev) should care. Maybe have a section titled 'Use cases' with one example, and a 'See more examples' button to the docs use cases.
For example, why is it important to "Locate and identify website visitors by IP address"? What insight would I gain or feature would I be able to implement? To track unique views/actions? To enforce unique sign ups? Etc. You can even have a case study page that goes over real examples of use cases, with their implementation to show how easy it is to implement.
At first, I thought the live lookup was useful. But then I didn't have any IP addresses in mind, so I quickly skipped it. Visually, I didn't see the "Your IP address" ... "Tor Exit Node" buttons until I scrolled back up the page. It would have been nice to see/notice the example IP address buttons earlier in my visit. So maybe try making them more noticeable (different color, placement, layout, etc.)?
It took me more time than expected but the landing page is now including your suggestions.
I have added a Use cases entry in the nav bar, with a dropdown that redirects to 3 new pages that describe most common scenarios. IP samples are now highlighted by using an orange border for the current active one.
Thanks again for your suggestions!
Thanks for your feedback and the suggestions. I will work on the points you mentioned.
Everything is very good. The design and how you presented the service is right to the point. The lookup in the header tells what you do in the first visit. Good job.
Thanks a lot. Any things that could be improved?
No any special thing at the moment, but in future once you got some famous customers, you can have a section for brands and a section for reviews. Usually, that would help increasing conversion rate.
I will definitively consider your suggestion! :)

Thanks, Vai!
As you said, there are multiple competitors. I think that's a good sign. It means there are customers that have a need.
You must stand out from your competitors to succeed. That's what Ipregistry does. As answered to jmarbach, Ipregistry already innovates on different segments.
It's great to provide free services but you should have a mean to maintain your business in the long term, be able to compete with leaders and keep innovating.
