I have been self-introspecting for the past 14 years, refining the reason behind every thought. It's maddening but I survived & came out stronger. Ask me anything!
I have been on an unexpected journey since Nov'19 where I left work to learn more of the world we live in. It's been a wild ride & I shared my journey in my 2020-in-review post on my blog - Accidental Gap Year
2020 was hard for everyone, mentally more so. I ended up having a lot of discussions & helping my friends + family in navigating their thoughts better for what they need to be doing next. Also, I realized I have nobody wearing the same hat when I need some 3rd person perspective on my actions or call my BS out.
So, how did I manage to stay on course for the long-term?
Simple answer: Belief in myself. I know, I can do anything I put my mind to. Capricorn goat in me makes me want to climb mountains, one after another. A blessing & a curse.
I am still on my journey, more determined than ever before. But 16 months of runaway has exhausted my savings reserves. I am again preparing to get out in the market to look for work.
So, last night it just came to me, perhaps I can provide "Motivation as a service" to other creators (Indie-hackers mainly) & that might support me in my hacking adventures while I launch all that's about to come out of my creation pipeline.
Take a look - motivate.carrd.co
Let me know what you think. And honestly, Ask Me Anything!
Interesting way to use Carrd and Gumroad for a consultancy call! Nice.
Yeah, was pretty simple actually. Getting the copy right took the longest, but seems like IH folks don't even like the opportunity to ask a question 👻
Clarity v Motivation. Maybe run a poll but I suspect lack of clarity is a wider problem. Just my view but relatively easy to regain lost motivation with the next big idea or next household bill. But clarity ... that's the scalpel you need to cut through the noise. Plus it is mentioned in your page & social proof. I say definitely a market for this kind of thing whatever you call it. Would consider offering an unlimited on-demand service (like you see for design services). Targeting indiehackers is ok but do they have the money / inclination? Target entrepreneurs with money. If you find more clients than you can handle then come back as have connections with Coaches who could support. Best of luck.
Lack of clarity is always the problem. Once aligned with the goals, there is little left to stop you from reaching that goal, but majority doesn't reach it, why would that be?
I think the experiment demonstrated "you don't know what you don't know". Most either discarded the notion of sourcing seeking motivation from elsewhere, whereas the name itself was just to make a point, if you visit the landing page. Or they simply are chasing the shiny objects hoping to get the secret ingredient of success from other people without realising what they need to figure out is how to get there being the person they are.
Now, this might be suitable to a different market, like you said, but I am not looking to pursue this as a primary project on that scale. It was just an experiment that I wish to run to make some money to fund my projects for a little longer while I push them out. I liked the idea of a less overhead.
Of course there is a big market for seeking people who will pay thousands of dollars for a session to de-clutter their mind. It stands to bring massive value to everyone with their goals. But you could get it cheaper with money back guarantee from me because I don't primarily advertise myself for it + just have a story of why I can do it as opposed to having authority in the space.
Thanks for taking the time to write your thoughts out!
