Hey Indie Hackers,
I’ve been building something called Digital Guardian—an AI tool designed to help creators and small businesses deal with the growing mess of social media impersonation.
If you’ve got any kind of online presence, you know the feeling: someone out there pretending to be you, running scams, or quietly chipping away at your reputation. Searching manually is a pain, and most tools I’ve come across don’t cut it. That’s the gap I’m trying to close.
The idea has been to keep it powerful but dead simple. It’s not live yet, but here’s where things are at:
AI Detection: a 3-layer system that looks at content, behavior, and “digital fingerprints” to catch impersonators on Twitter/X. Finds threats in about 3–5 minutes, plus early-warning monitoring to stay ahead of new ones.
Low-friction UX: nothing buzzing at you constantly—Digital Guardian stays invisible until a threat pops up, then gives you a clear alert and a one-click “eliminate threat” option.
Trust & Design: I’ve tried to make it feel as solid as the apps you already rely on. If it’s protecting your brand, it should inspire confidence.
Evidence on Autopilot: when a fake is flagged, the system compiles screenshots and analysis into a clean report, turning a tedious manual process into a quick click.
Still Evolving: recently improved detection of “display name theft” and laid the groundwork for expanding beyond Twitter/X. Instagram is next, with LinkedIn, TikTok, and other platforms on the roadmap.
This isn’t just software for me—it’s about peace of mind. Letting creators and businesses focus on what they do best, without constantly worrying about impersonators. It’s been a solo project so far, but I’m excited to see it take shape.
Curious to hear from you: what’s your biggest frustration when it comes to protecting your brand online? Ever had to deal with impersonation yourself?
