[Show IH] Netlify Wrapped – personal Netlify build and deploy summary for 2020

Hi hackers 👋

I've recently launched Netlify Wrapped (my first actual launch), a free and easy-to-use dashboard which summarises your year on Netlify.

I wanted to take an opportunity to outline my key takeaways and goals for the project. I also want to become better at writing and sharing in public – so this is an attempt at that 🥳

Goals & Objectives

Of course, there are a lot of goals I want to tackle as the product develops, but the following three things were the main priority to get it off the ground and into users' hands.

• Insightful statistics that aren't readily available in the Netlify UI
• Free
• Clean UI
• Simple to use

• More advanced filtering/sorting

Move fast

Obviously by now everybody has stumbled across the "wrapped" concept made popular by Spotify.

I saw a few of these popping up across different platforms and services I use, so I thought it would be an enjoyable learning experience to try and tackle creating one of my own – particularly as the year comes to an end.

I've used Netlify for a little over a year now, I couldn't find an existing product in this niche, and I thought it shouldn't be too difficult.

Don't overhype your idea

Now I'm not saying you should expect to not be paid a dime for a product you're launching, however, heading into this I was solid on the fact that I didn't want to monetise (not that anybody would pay). It made it so much more enjoyable to build. In the past I have tinkered on potential SaaS ideas which in my head, were bound to blow up. Unrealistic.

Have fun

I'm sure this product isn't going to change any lives – but I had fun, played with an API that I didn't know before, integrated analytics, learnt a lot along the way, and most important – Finally. Launched. Something.
