Show IH: New Reddit alternative, reactacular.me: share and react freely, no sign ups required

Trying to compete with Reddit with an off the shelf product "Invision Community" that only scales up to 750 concurrent users and at that scale costs $590/mo to operate while not at all differentiating from Reddit?

Forgive me but I just don't see the logic in that?

Why do we want a reddit alternative?

In fact the only novelty in IH so far i have seen is its product page which lists the earnings per month, if that metric is not thr i will be able to get everything i get from IH in HN itself. Every qsn discussed here also seem to be cross posted in HN too.

I am even wondering whether i should continue using IH.

In my first 3 weeks of IH i was excited but now i find IH boring it just seems like 70% everyone advertising their products with very little valuable advice here and thr. The signal to noise ratio is below average.

Advertisement in the name of a question or post is only a bigger noise than an advertisement which states that it is an ad upfront.

We really need to invest more thought before we spend even 1 second into building stuff and solely relying on build it and they will come thought.

Just my transparent feedback and opinion.

You can't compete against Reddit as a general link aggregator. Even Reddit itself wasn't able to be generally competitive against Digg in the beginning.

Niche down until you've got something specific enough to have a chance at being number one!
