It’s now been a month since we all set our New Year’s resolutions. Are you going strong, or have you fallen back to old habits?
Many folks I know set out 2 cliché goals: a) to be more physically active, and b) to get email finally under control. But after a few short weeks, nearly all have given up on the latter. And that’s not surprising to me.
Maintaining fitness is simply a matter of effort between you… and only you. You’ll see progress so long as you continue to workout and eat healthy.
Maintaining email, on the other hand, is a bit more complicated. It’s a matter of effort between you… and the unknown.
With email, it’s hard to see progress. We’re living in a constant stream of notifications we have no control over– some important, most just distractions. No matter how diligent you are at getting down to inbox zero daily, you’ll eventually lose steam -- because email doesn't have a finish line in sight. There isn’t even a homestretch.
Fortunately there is a way to help solve all of your email problems through some automation. All you need to do is configure your advanced inbox settings, create robust filters using Boolean keyword queries, and custom rules/contingencies to meet your precise workflow.
But let’s just be real… who the hell knows how to set these things up properly, let alone even know what keywords to filter for?!

Some examples:
