It's easy to see who likes or replies to social media posts, but there's no good way to find out when sites like The New York Times or Buzzfeed embeds a post in their articles. With Recite Social you can find out which articles have embedded social media posts. Paying customers get email alerts so they can know immediately when accounts they follow are embedded.
Side note: the IH meetup last week was great! It would be great if that was a monthly/quarterly event. I got a ton of helpful feedback and implemented several suggestions from other people who dropped by.
@bwallerstein, it's been awesome to see this come to life over the past couple months. Can you talk about what inspired this idea and who you see the target audience as?
Thanks! A few years ago I built a Twitter bot that replies to Tweets that get embedded (https://twitter.com/ReciteSocial), it now has over 5,000 followers. The #1 ask from other users was a searchable history of when they've been embedded, so I decided to build the website.
Admittedly I'm not 100% solid on who the target audience is, but my basic assumption is this could be valuable for PR and marketing. Getting your post embedded in an article can expand your audience to a huge number of people outside your core followers.
